Dont know where footygoss got this from but this is the injury list according to them

Ashley Hansen (shoulder) 8 weeks
Darren Glass (shoulder) 6-8 weeks
Travis Gaspar (foot) 6-8 weeks
Beau Waters (knee) 6 weeks
Adam Hunter (knee) 3 weeks
Callum Chambers (shoulder) Test
Brett Jones (knee) 2 weeks
Michael Embley (hamstring) 2 weeks
Adam Selwood (groin) 2 weeks
Brent Staker (knee) Test

That shows Glass a fair way behind starting at this stage and poor old hansen is well off after the surgery.

Hmm, no idea how accurate that is, but if that is correct, there is some reason for optimism.

We have 4 weeks of Wiz cup ahead of us, then two weeks off, then the real thing starts on the 26th of march.
Which unless i am very mistaken is 6 weeks away. So that would mean that if Gassy and Glass do get back inside that timeframe (which admittedly would be a first ever for Travis Gaspar), we'll get them by around round 3 at the latest, and maybe a week or two earlier- looking at Glass at training, I could see him being back round 1 or 2.

I really really hope Staker is right to play next week- assuming Rocca/Tarrant lineup, Jako will be ideal for Rocca, and I'd give young Buffy a go on Tarrant- if Staker is going to cover in defence until Glass and Gassy are fit and firing, he needs to get in a solid wizard campaign to get some experience. Hunta is another one we'll need early in the year whilst we're waiting for our key defenders to return.

As for the others, no huge dramas, since they aren't really in our best 22. I do hope for Waters' sake he can get back soon.

Tarrant was supposedly in great form and Buckley played on a half back flank as a rebounding sweeper. Be interesting to see who plays on Tarrant if Staker is out.

Tarrant is 193cm and 90 kg
Tarrant would be too quick for Jacko, Johnson, Carroll and Lynch and with Gaspar Glass Hansen and Hunter out we don't have too many options.

Embley perhaps at 190cm and 91 kg

I think that most who have attended the Scratch Matches have seen Glass and Gaspar belting out laps. Sure running with a recovering shoulder is possible. But Glass must be pumping iron with his elbows the way he is looking. IMO Gaspar is in Cotton wool for R1.

The danger with injuries is that the interrupted pre-season often leads to a poor season due to preparation ....it is the old when do you play them. As a coach (yes a coach of the lowest calibre) I always like the when they are ready + 1 week and + 2 for hammies ....though if the GF is on the line I throw my rule book away.

Gaspar aside as he is a medical journal in itself - Waters you would be smart to take your time with.

Gardiner - certainly not the Wizard Cup (I'll never understand why you played him in the last W Derby when he was obvioulsy not right ...with finals 1 week away?).

Glass, Hansen & Hunter....I'd want to see a decent hit out at WAFL level where the pace is more friendly.

All depends on the start the other lads can give you ....the old saying that the Chinese word for Crisis and Opportunity are the same springs to mind.

Just for the record the Wiz cup isnt that improtant however the only favourable outcome is you are not playing games at the East Bendigo Dog Park come next week if you can win.
