Dawes could easily be playing for Willy by about round 17-20.

Any early(ish) return for Dawes could make the promotion of a rookie a tricky decision in terms of timing, because if we leave it too late to promote somebody, Dawes may no longer qualify as "long term injured".

Does anybody know exactly what the rules are re promoting rookies? How many weeks must the injured player be unavailable for?

I believe 6 weeks, although I could be wrong.

If Dawes were to return, I'd want to make sure he was absolutely 100% ready to do so, because coming back early he runs an increased risk of re-injury. If we rush things just to get him to play for the Williamstown reserves, we've got rocks in our heads.

thats true, since he did it last year midseason there is no reason for him not to be back by then

no he did it the game before the finals because he thought it wasn't that bad and he was a chance to play the next week,before he saw the doctor

round one is about 5 weeks isnt it?
realistcally dids wont make it by then will he...i thought they were talking more like round 6 or something

They were originally, but then it was suggested he could be ready for round 1. I doubt they'd rush him in, he's too valuable a player.

i dont see what the issue is anyway. He won't get a senior game this year either way.

Realistically, Dawes isn't really an issue, but hopefully he could return to full training by mid-season, and then play a couple of games for Willy or even the Willy Reserves to show us what he is made of. Obviously it is a season to forget and not really take much in, but you never know.
