Hagdorn reporting on 6PR tonight that Scott Lycett's knee is worse than has been revealed, and that he won't resume full training for 6 months.

Hope he is true to form on this one. Otherwise we're in deep s**t.

We will always have injuries and no club will ever be completely transparent. That's the nature of the game.

What always worries me however is the treatment of our longer term injuries. The more serious injuries. We don't seem to do very well.

Like it or not Perth is a regional city, and I notice that whenever a high profile player like Fyfe requires surgery to head head straight to Melbourne. Closer to home I have a young relative who required relatively minor hip surgury and they were even referred straight to a melbourne specialist and follow up physio

I really have to wonder what's up with perth surgeons in general. I am sure it is a closed shop but is there any data about. I wonder if the Eagles and dockers should investigate a combined approach just like a charter flight for East Coast games to support rehab. Perhaps a medical transport system is required so players don't end up like Selwood etc?

We can not afford to start injury management on players like Nic without the very best advice and I don't think its your side of the rabbit proof fence.

we have the money we should use it.

I can just repeat myself as it looks like armature hour with poor Lysett (I hope fro the best)

Oh well at least we can play a few new faces in the guts.

I've had a grade 2 PCL not reconstructed, healed 10mm 'loose'. Believe Lycett has same thing. Every time you get a knock it damages all the other components. FWIW I'd implore him to get it reconstructed, for his career but also to delay a replacement at 40. Can't get away with a loose PCL as a ruck, mids (Duggan) maybe different.

Unfortunately recovery is not far off that for a broken leg, knee in straight splint 24/7 for 6 weeks minimum. He'll be out all year if he goes for it. I would.

Sucks for Lycett. I hope whatever happens is whats best for him going forward.
2017 is cooked already but without a decent ruck it will prove a good development year for our midfield.

People were saying the same thing in '15 when we lost our 2 KPD.
Also means the mids are required to work much harder around the ball because there will be no more silver service. Not more taking this s**t for granted.

the world has not ended.

I see a need to replace a long term replacement for JK - a preference should be a ruck forward as the game is evolving - thus get the dude now and let him grow into the JK replacement over a few years. A more active tall up forward at times will help Jack and JK as well - add to this a small crumbing forward

GF here we come
