Injury Injury thread 2017

"Mark LeCras won't play this week; he's got a glute or hip injury" - Kim Hagdorn on 6PR this morning..

**** sake, all but confirms a new three year deal for Lecca doesn't it?
I know this isnt the thread but I hope our club is heavily into Mitch Mcgovern and Lecca can retire

Seems very likely that the truth on JK lies somewhere between what Hagdorn and the club have said. Typical of our comms dept to be extremely selective with what they choose to disclose about an injury, and typical of Hagdorn to decide it's better to run a story than to make sure it's definitely correct

One thing I do know from talking to a member who is also on a lot of medical boards is that the medical profession has some passionate fans that can squeeze information out of fellow professionals. I remember him telling me about finding out what he wants to know from skg. It isnt hard for stuff to leak

See now I want Lecras to play just so he's wrong

Such a plonker to listen to "I know more than the club would like me to know" self important twat

If he just stuck to saying JK is going to be out for another couple of weeks rather than dress it up/sensationalise it with "it's a new injury" or "he's at risk of shortening his career" then he'd have a bit more credibility

He also said that he knows Kennedy hasn't been training but if he has then he's put himself at risk and if he hasn't been training how could it be a new injury. So many contradictions

And he should know more than Allan from Ellenbrook because he's supposed to be a journalist and that's his ****ing job

Kennedy (calf) 1 week - up from test
LeCras (hip) 1 week - new
Hurn (concussion/hamstring) 1 week - new
Nelson (hamstring) 1-2 weeks - same
Venables (toe) 1-2 weeks - same
Tunbridge* (knee) 2 weeks - same
Rioli (hamstring) 2 weeks - down from 3-4 weeks
Waterman (foot) 2 weeks - down from 3-4 weeks
Bayok* (hamstring) 2-3 weeks - new
Naitanui (knee) Late 2017 season - same
Allen (foot) Season - same

Rioli & Waterman seem to be making progress. Given our history, I don't believe it.

Watermans not injured, he is just doing a mini preseason.

WTF?!

Injured players not included on injury list.
Non-injured players included on injury list.

So Hurn out for a week.. the more and more times I watch that replay the more it looks like Viney lines him up and goes. There's no reason to go that hard at the ball unless you're trying to hurt the opposition, which is fine until you leap in the air and get the player in the head and knock him out.

Shuey's decision was knife edge the other week and this just gets thrown out?

Kennedy (calf) 1 week Was test
LeCras (hip) 1 week New
Hurn (concussion/hamstring) 1 week New
Nelson (hamstring) 1-2 weeks No Change
Venables (toe) 1-2 weeks No Change
Tunbridge* (knee) 2 weeks No Change
Rioli (hamstring) 2 weeks Reduced from 3-4 weeks
Waterman (foot) 2 weeks Reduced from 3-4 weeks
Bayok* (hamstring) 2-3 weeks Was Partingtons last week
Naitanui (knee) Late 2017 season No Change
Allen (foot) Season No Change

LeCras and Hurn are new additions to the list from last week as is Bayok even though he was injured with Partingtons Disease, at least they've acknowledged his existence this week though

Nelson, Venables and Tunbridge are stuck in Groundhog Day whilst JK is going back in time after failing his test presumably

Rioli and Waterman have moved forward so that's some consolation

Getting very close to the point where Naitanui has a line put through his name and he joins Allen as out for the season

Confirms what we've probably known would be the case for a while now

Nicnat very unlikely to play this year

This might be a controversial view but I'd play him in the WAFL reserves if fit. Assuming there is no increased chance of re-injuring the knee, I'd rather he at least find some touch again before the season is out. it would do him some good for next season, I'm not sure if wrapping him up in cotton wool when he can actually play would necessarily be beneficial. The longer he goes without running and handling/kicking a ball in a competitive environment the harder he will find it to regain his touch and the WAFL reserves wouldn't be as physically demanding as an AFL game.

Anyway, just a thought, it will probably be disagreed with widely.

Depends heavily on his training form and how we finish the year, but Im all for it. Would be unwise to do what we did with Emac again. These big injuries leave mental scars long after the wound is healed. If they dont have confidence in it they shouldnt be played.

What is Allens foot injury that's going to keep him out all season?

Brown seemed to be the exception - he didn't appear to have the same mental scars that EMac had. I guess because he had been through it before and wasn't so apprehensive.

Think I heard where both Nelson and Venables have had setbacks?

Vozzo said both have had their training pulled back. On Monday Nelson was kicking a footy around with Bayok and Rioli for around ten minutes while the rest of the group was stretching

Rioli joined in a couple of drills with the other players but Nelson and Bayok left the field

Venables didn't even make an appearance that I saw
