Injury Injury thread 2017

Sinclair fan but in hindsight Lycett for Jetta plus a pick would have been good keep Sinclair and draft another ruckman in 2015 draft .

All hypothetical and hindsight is great but Sinclair was good value .
sinclair wouldn't have solved a thing atm. He is as useful as vardy or petrie in the ruck. Both are probably better forwards as well.

Clearly the club should have realized that NicNat's 2016 and 2017 would be wrecked by injury, and traded him to Sydney at the end of 2015 for Jetta and half a dozen first round picks.

will get better with age/experience. just hitting his peak now. unfortunately injuries will ruin him and i think he is more of a number one ruck and the NN factor is probably stalling his development.

You may be right about Nic Nat stalling his development as he may be better carrying the ruck load, but that is a moot point. This year was going to be so bloody important for him. A chance to show he could carry the ruck load. How good would that have been? To have the luxury of letting Nic Nat 'ease' back into it playing as the Fwd/Ruck while Lycett did most of the grunt work?

He is a talent, he could be very good. I'm pretty devastated for him tbh. I have this uneasy feeling that we may never get to see his potential as he never seems to get a clear run at it.

He could almost be considered our version of Vardy at Geelong. Oh the irony.

His ceiling was massive until his injuries started.

I kind of reckon he got too bulky. Look back at his U/18 footage and he's skinny but his marking and agility is pretty impressive for a 200cm+ bloke.

If he was durable he would have been killing it by now

Well it could be worse. Look at Freo; if Sandi goes down they are rucking with Strnadica.
They've got that young fella Darcy who would play if either Sandilands or Griffin go down

It was a bit of a cluster**** last year with Naitanui going down, but if we had him fit and Vardy fit and another young ruck developing, I wouldn't have been against trading Lycett for two first round draft picks.. and a fringe player.

The bloke is going into his prime and is incredibly injury prone, and when he played last year he wasn't really any good. He has time on his side I guess as ruckmen usually take a bit longer to peak, but I can't see him being anything more than servicable at the point

Lycett worth 2 first round picks?...

Only 5 weeks til we get some Willie action!

No idea when Cole did his quad. Bear in mind he was named in the round 1 EP side but didn't play against Peel

Naitanui and Lycett have both been placed on the LTI as of today per this article

Not an encouraging sign for Lycett

Lycett's return has actually moved forward a week, a rarity for the club. I think he's just gone onto the LTI to give us room to promote another rookie (probably McInnes) if we get desperate.
