I'm not sure about the in's. I'll wait for willi to play, but I know a few outs (aside from reports):

Iles - I know he's young, but just hasn't cut it the last 2 weeks.
Egan - Soft as butter, tries to look spectacular when all he looks is crap, and has pathetic skills.
Rocca - HAS TO GO. Was disgusting last nite. If you're down on form big man, atleast RUN THROUGH SOMEONE when the opportunity arises. He shirks the contest when it is there like he thinks he might come off second best, which is stupid. Does he know how much confidence his teammates will get when he goes out on a lead and lays a heavy hit to someone in his way?
Wakelin - Injured or not, too old, too slow.

Thank you.

So who would you replace Rocca with?

I presume the incident you are talking about was the one in the second half where the commentators got stuck into him, where he pulled up before taking a Port player out?

Have you not been watching the tribunal this season? If Rocca had have taken the bloke out he would most likely be suspended for a couple of matches - hardly team inspiring stuff is it?

We all know he is badly out of form, but just how do you expect him to be able to take a grab when there are 30 players in our 50m arc? Port had the super-flood going last night, which is why we didn't kick goals until the end of the last quarter.

It isn't as though he didn't have opportunity as well - he kicked 0.3 which could've easily been 3.0 as they were all gettable for him. He is badly down on confidence and 'fans' like yourself do him no good by getting stuck into him after a game.

He was marking ok last night, took that grab against 4 Port opponents from Egan's (I think??) kick and if we are to have any chance in September the big man needs to be firing.

He has a huge chance in the next 2 weeks against Carlton & North, providing the coaching staff stick with him, to turn his form slump around before the finals.

So when he comes out and kicks a bag against either of those teams or in September I hope that you aren't one of the first fans to jump online and praise him.

Rocca was allright, we have no1 better to play at chf.

i would drop lockyer and rest buckley he is playing poorly anyway (hope he didnt injure himself in that final quarter!)
Looks like obrien is out (so lonie in???)
out of the youngsters i would def play pendles ahead of any1 else
rest tarrant for another week till he is fully fit. Ruzza was awesome!

You cant be serious. Ilo was quiet last nite but the week before was one of the only blokes who could hold his head high after the game. Quit bagging the young kids and give him a full season before you right him off.

i have no idea what the state of tarrant and presti's injuries are at but if they are fine to go and there are no suspensions, btw is wakline injured, well if he is

Out: Rocca(rest) Buckley(rest) Obrien(inj) Wakline (inj)
In: Tarrant Presti Anthony Lonie

STAR TAZ AND RUS IN THE SQUARE ARRRRR:thumbsu:, put lonie or maxwell CHF to replace rocca

you didn't watch last night's game did you?

I think the fact Rocca started on the bench and got 75 mins of gametime, our 2nd lowest in terms of TOG last night means we really wanted to drop/rest him but Tarrant out forced our hand.

I think we should rest Rocca (or drop, but playing at willy won't help him) round 22 and Buckly round 21.

So
In: Lonie, Prestigiacomo, Anthony, Pendlebury (or Davies/Iacobucci/Rowe/ depending on VFL)
Out: Iles, O'Brien (inj), Wakelin (inj), Buckley (rest)

B: Holland, Presti, Clement
HB: Lonie, J.Cloke, H.Shaw

C: Pendlebury, O'Bree, R.Shaw

HF: Lockyer, T.Cloke, Egan
F: Swan, Rusling, Didak

R: Fraser, Licuria, Johnson

Int: Burns, Rocca, Anthony, Maxwell

Emg: Iles, Rowe, Davies

yeah suprisingly enough i did. other than that mark and goal at the end i thought that he was below par (or below his start of season form) rest him, we are in the finals!

p.s that goal he missed when brodie was wide open is not buckleyesque!

Early days because Willy have not played and there may be some reports from last nights game.

In Lonie Presti Anthony/Richards

Out O'Brien Waklein Iles

Davies Pendlebury and Rowe as well as Iles in the mix to come in for any players who may get suspended
I'd like to drop Maxwell and/or T Cloke but we probably dont have the luxury.
Sorry im homeless as i lost my house last week. Im happy with any changes this week. Can someone let me know if neon leon can get back before the finals.

he was one of if not the BOG! he setup at least 3 goals with precision kicks and it would have been more if rocca could kick straight.

Out O'Brien Wakelin Iles Licuria(suspended, hope not!)
In Lonie Presti Davies Iacobucci

Johnson's hand connected with the football FIRST. Should be safe.
Burnsy changed direction. Absolutely safe.
Licuria could miss the Carlton clash. I think he got found guilty for tripping in 03.

Bucks will play.

Egan should be one of the first 10 picked. Runs to good positions very often for little receive (eg Burns miss in last quarter).

Licuria will get a reprimand at worst I would think. Burns should get off. Johnno maybe a week.
In Lonie for O'Brien
In Presti for Wakes
In Tarrant for Bucks
In Pendlebury for Johnson

Iles maybe due for a rest but not sure if we have many other options for small defender on Betts, Simpson etc. Heater will be needed in midfield if Johnno is suspended.

Thats your opinion. and fair enough.

He did kick 0.3. and they were all gettable. You seem to think this is a positive? If Didak hadn't kicked that goal, would you still look back on his pathetic attempt from 15-20m out and say it doesn't matter because it was gettable?

I agree his marking was a lot better as well. The only positive really.

And if he does fire up in the finals and kicks a bag I will say I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I dont dislike Rocca. Quite the opposite actually. I'm a fan. But this form slump is bordering on ridiculous. Its dragged on for nearly half a season. What happens if he doesn't 'fire up' in the next 2 weeks and takes his slump into the finals which results in a 6 possesion, 0.1 game from him and we lose? Will you all say 'maybe we should have rested him towards the end of the season'? He is no gaurantee to end his slump just because we are aproaching finals.

I dont know who to replace him with. But if Tarrant can come back in I think we can do without him for a week.

And whoever replied concerning my comment on Isles. Maybe I have him mixed up with someone else from the essendon game, but can't remember him doing anything too good. And I know he is young. I'm not bagging him. But we can't keep him in the team just because he is 'young and learning'. We are heading for finals football. We can't take any passengers or young apprentices who are in the to gain experience. If he can't hold down his spot on the back flank/pocket and someone is performing better in willi, then he goes. I think the kid has a future, but right now we need to be focused on 2006, not 2007 and beyond.

And whoever said egan did all right last night.... that was funny, i think we all had a good laugh.

Oh and for clarification. I didn't write him off. Don't put words in my mouth. I said he played poor. And just because he is young doesn't make him untouchable. If he can't hold his spot, he has to go. I didn't 'bag' him as such, just said he hasn't played well enough to hold his spot come finals. I think he has a future.

No, I wouldn't be annoyed at Rocca's missed shots if Didak had've missed his winning goal as it is easy to pick 1 incident in a close game that could've changed the result. Scott Burns missed from a slight angle close to goal in the dying minutes as well. Go back to the Adelaide game, Buckley misses 3 shots at goal and we lose by 4 points - it hurts but it happens. I am pretty sure that Tarrant's goal kicking isn't much better either.

I don't know enough about Rocca as a person as to know whether a week off would help him, but if it would I am with you in saying give him a rest for a week, I just don't want to see him running around for Willy - if he gets a week off let him take a rest.

All I meant to say was that if there is nobody to replace him we are better off keeping him in the side, let him take the ruck for a bit to rest Josh (even let Josh rest in the forward line). Rocca is a vital part of our premiership aspirations and I feel that he will come good. If he does continue his form slump (which I don't think he will) then we are still better served having him in the team than sitting in the sidelines.

As long as Rocca can continue to bring the small forwards into the game by bringing the ball to ground if he can't mark it than I feel he is playing an important role. I would love to see him kicking a bag again, but with teams flooding our forward line there is hardly any room for him to get a clean run at the ball.

The thing is he isn't playing any part in our wins. His sub 10 possesion games are contributing nothing. His kicking is off. He can't ruck. I would rather see Travis playing second ruck than Rocca. And when MM tries to use him in defence to cover someone or try and get some ball it is a waste as he is too slow and unfit to go with anyone. He can only play loose there and JClo does that better anyway. I think it is worth dropping him (if tarrant is ready to come back) to see if we improve with someone else in the forward line other than him. Can you honestly say that the vast times he was on the bench in fri nites game and not on the ground that we missed him? I think not.

Great job today Rocca - 6 goals and many more strong marks. Great kick to pick out Shaw late in the game. Heres hoping you keep the good form going for the remainder of our season. :thumbsu:
