You do realise that KPP take longer to develop... The most games he has had in a row is 4, funny how KP get alot more shit for having not performed as expected yet most of our midfielders seem to get an abundance of chances. Monfries 52 games before the start of this year in three seasons how can he get that many without performing up to standard but Johns gets 20 in three seasons, give the man a chance. 20 games is not much of a chance.

So we play 3 talls down back???

I don't think Johns is mobile enough, nor does he have the footy smarts to play at an AFL level. He tries, but his concentration is appalling.

I do agree that KPP take longer to develop and that some of our players have had more than enough chances to show something. Has johns actually improved this year from last, or even before that though?

You are correct we can't play 3 talls down back (4 if you count Pears). Mal takes Treadrea and Ryder takes Westhoff and that is all we really need.

IMO Johns can only do some much developing at Bendigo and needs a chance in the big boys, and stay in one position. He has played 20 games and hasn't really been given a role. He needs a decent run down back, and Ryder wants to be moved to the ruck as he stated on radio 2 weeks back. While Pears is still in development stage lets see what Johns can do down back as he has done so successfully at bendigo.

We saw what Johns did down back last week and it was ____ing abysmal!

Who do you guys think will take Motlop and Ebert? They play much taller than they are, both marking forwards

Care to tell me something I don't know?

Apparently (not entirely sure) Alwyn Davey's out for the season.;)

There are some complete tools on this thread.

OK, here's how I see it.

Nash - dropped. Turnover king
Michael - dropped. Too slow
Slattery - dropped. Not good enough
NLM - dropped. Out of form
Fletcher - injured.
Ryder - dropped. Had goals kicked on him this week.
Winderlich - dropped. Not good enough to play back pocket.
Watson - dropped. 80% is not efficient enough.
Dyson - dropped. I have a personal vendetta against him.
Lovett - dropped. Not good enough to play back pocket.
McPhee - dropped. He can't mark, he can't kick.
Monfries - dropped. Not good enough.
Johns - dropped. He's Courtney Johns
Lloyd - dropped. Out of form
Reimers - dropped. Too quiet
Hille - dropped. Not good enough
Stanton - dropped. Clearly too soft
Houli - dropped. Too quiet
Pears - dropped. Doesn't do enough
Laycock - dropped. Not good enough
Welsh - dropped. Not good enough, too inconsistent
Rama - dropped. Can't see a reason why he's not in his 2000 form.

:D Best post in the topic(Though thats not hard...)

Well Ben, I think thats the gist of it, but I think Bellchambers is better suited to the KPP atleast :p

Seriously though, why bring Hislop in? Yeah he's hard at it, but it doesnt mean he plays good footy. He had a poor game in the VFL from all reports, so why rush him in when what we really need is some polished performers instead of hard nuts.

In: Myers, JJ
Out: Fletcher, Monfries

Daniher will get the go ahead before Myers after last weekends Bendigo's match. Its really hard to bring in and take out players when both Essendon and Bendigo got smashed :(

I have been prepared to be very patient and wait three seasons or so from when Johns started playing but his time is now and to be honest he does not look like he is improving. I look at him and the name Trevor Spencer comes to mind. The next big thing who never really made it becasue injury and a lack of real footy smarts took their toll.
The plain truth is he was over hyped to the max by our presvious spin doctor coach and having a serious injury at a crutial stage of his development have really hurt where he is at. He won't ever get that back. There is probaly a slim chance he may make it as a defender (if he actually plays on a tall rather than changing midfielders). I have seen enough of him up forward to know his leads are generally poorly timed and into trafic and he is not as good in contested situations as he should be. The only real plus about him as a forward is the fact he rarely missed goals from set shots now. Too bad he cant find the footy enough times to make it hurt opposition sides.

I'd be alright with Johns on Tredrea and Pears on Westhoff this week.

It'll be the perfect opportunity to see what the kids can do on players of similar builds to themselves. I'm not sure where that leaves Mal this week, or whether we can afford to drop him with Fletch out as well, but we need to be trying these things.

Mal on Tredrea. (Swap with Ryder if Tredea kicks more than 2)
Ryder on Westhoff. (I'd love to see mal on Westoff as well)
Jay Nash on Ebert. (Jay Nash could have dominated on Medhurst last week but he wasn't given a chance by knighta)
McPhee in Defence..... (He's shocking up forward, and does good for Supercoach when he's in defence.)

All I want to see is the right matchup's and if someone is obviously struggling on his opponent, then don't wait till the last quarter to make the change.

As for the side this week i would bring in Daniher and Myers.
Daniher because he has been good the last two weeks .
I would bring in Myers despite his poor game on saturday. He doesn't really deserve to be picked on form from saturday but his previous two games where pretty good and like Pears i think it will be benificial to his developmet to give him a few games now.
The bye for Bendigo comes at the wrong time for us as it would have been good to get another game into Hislop but hey who cares , bring him in as well. We couldn't play any worse.

In. Daniher , Hislop , Myers
Out. Flethcer (inj) , Johns (finished) and ....whoever.

Play Michael/Ryder/Fletcher on Midfielders and they will get smashed as well. We have always had trouble stopping powerforwards why dont we give him a chance on Tredrea and move Ryder into the ruck WHERE HE WANTS TO MOVE TO.

Tredrea to kick 10

If that's the case, then we have proven once and for all that Johns can't hold a key back role.

This season is about seeing what players can and can't do, not winning the premiership.

If we were challenging for something this year, then Michael to Tredrea and Ryder to Westhoff, obviously. But I'd rather lose this game by the extra 4 goals if it means Knighter has a better idea of people's capabilities.

For once, I agree with that.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Unfortunate to say but Johns isn't coming out of the team this week, Knighta will play him even if he got 10 goals kicked against him last friday.

But if he's dropped....:thumbsu::thumbsu:

I'd be happy with that aswell, he hasn't been given the chance to prove himself. He performs well in Bendigo we bring him into the seniors and play him in some ____ed up position e.g. 5th Tall on Pendlebury, or forward pocket.

Johns can't play anywhere as he is too slow to move around. And your thing that he was always playing on midfielders is silly as he wasn't, he is frankly put a spud and should be finished. We got rid of Bolton last year, Johns should have joined him!

I'd rather play Pears on Tredrea..at least he has footy smarts..Johns has the amount of footy smarts as a 6 year old ballet dancer. Enough is enough! If Johns plays, I am not watching it, I'd rather get drunk instead as I know I will get annoyed watching Johns!

Are you saying Lockyer, Pendlebury and Swan aren't midfielders? well Lockyer is more a half back runner :D. TBH I dont care whether we play Johns or not I just want to get Ryder into the ruck and Laycock out of the side. Laycock unlike Johns has had the chances an not performed consistantly, we also need Ryder in the ruck it would be like having another midfielder.
