Wonder if Barnetts injury timeline was well known pre draft? I’d have paid him out if that was the case. Even the most optimistic fan wouldn’t have high hopes for a breakout season off an interrupted preseason.![]()
Pre-season injury update
High Performance Manager Phil Merriman provides an update on West Coast’s injured playerswww.westcoasteagles.com.au
“Malakai has a low-grade MCL injury,” High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said.
Second-year Eagle Jack Hutchinson is expected to miss an extended period of time with an ankle injury.
“Unfortunately, we found a stress fracture in Jack’s ankle,” Merriman said.
“It’s in an area that has a poor healing capacity, so we sent him in for a procedure.
“It’s going to be a little bit longer for him, we will probably have him running around the 10-week mark and then have him progress from there.”
Bailey Williams - Groin injury. Full training late January.
Bo Allan - Minor wrist injury. No contact on that part for 4 weeks but can do everything else.
Barnett - Full training late Jan.
Sam Allen - Getting into change of direction stuff after the break.
It's alright. Thankfully he signed up to be a one club player, so he's got a few years to get himself right.Sucks for Hutchinson, I was hoping that a preseason with the midfield group (and a little more muscle) would help with his composure.
He's back at the end of preseason? If Hutchison has a LTI, then that is all the more reason to end the Maric to defence experiment.
Move Maric to the forward line to take Liam Ryan's position.
Yeh, one of the most bizzare long term signings in modern history. It's alright. Thankfully he signed up to be a one club player, so he's got a few years to get himself right.
