Maybe for Gaff, but for McGovern, he was touted as the best defender in the game
when he extended.

Was coming of a good GF and 3 AA's in a row.
He was worth that and more on the open market.

His AA's always have been a sham.
Maybe he deserved 1, but 3? Come on.
He was basically walk up start to the AA in those years.
He has long cost us in trying to mark when he should spoil and being too cute with his disposals in the back 50.
On his day he could be a great asset but I've never thought of him being close to the best defender in the game.

Think you're underselling him TBH.
When he was at his best, sides used to try and plan to go around him or kick it on the ground.
They just couldn't get past him.

Was easily in the top 2 or 3 defenders in the league.

We don't win the 2018 GF without him.

Montagna absolutely nails it here, couldnt be more on the money. Kings too busy defending his mate to see what's happening

On that particular play it's like Shuey, Sheed and Duggan all expected the Swans to stop, prop and switch the ball like the Eagles would have. They ran jogged to defend behind the bloke with the football. Just let that sink in. Head****ed. The lot of them.

You see Sheppard just throwing his hands up like "WTF am I supposed to do about that shit upfield" as we concede another uncontested mark I50.

I agree that we need to have far more intensity and pressure. He nailed that.

Not sure how winning a premiership in 2018 is 4 years ago though? He may have to do a quick recount on that...

Yeo pretty much the only mid who ran forward after his man, and then has to turn around and run back to try lay a tackle cos the other 3 were just standing around ball watching.

Insipid effort shown there by Sheed in particular.

Kingy didn't know how to respond. "Geez Montagna dead right here, but he's me mate. What do I say? Agree? say nothing? Look uncomfortable?"
But yep, as soon as a few bounces went there way in the first and they got a few easy and somewhat flukey goals it was as though the guy's went F-it here we go again and dropped their shoulders. You could literally see it happening.
