iphone - new model?

i find that with the winterboard themes and other mods (the 5 column springboard as seen above) slow down the device.

i am still using the iPhone 3G though, which is slower than the 3GS, but i noticed a 30% performance drop with some of those mods.

worth giving a try though. especially if you use a 3GS

I find with a newly restored and JB 3G, I get around 45-55mb of RAM free. With those simple. small icon themes, with maybe 1 widget around, I can normally get around 40mb. With the most recent theme I have used, I had at max 35mb, but that was with a HTML wallpaper (very intensive), and using BossPaper. And with the original iNav, with those big ass icons, I think 25-30mb was normal.

I think that is maximum, 25% drop. But no themes now are that intensive, especially if the Themer is smart and does the images and such well.

Those themes above would have very minimal observable effects

after using the phone though (safari, sms, ipod etc.) i only ever had around 5mb of ram free (according to memtool). swiping between screens was noticeably slower, and loading applications also.

the problem is safari and other applications don't really close properly, so you need to end the processes manually to free up some ram.

that's why i want to get a 3GS, so i don't have to worry about it. i'm just sticking to a vanilla setup for the time being.

OMG! I played Word Ace for 3 hours non-stop last night in bed when I should have been sleeping. It's so addictive!

Mixture of scrabble and texas holdem poker. You can play on the internet against other iPhone users, or even Palm Pre users. You can add friends and just play against them, or select a random table and play against strangers. Or play in practice mode against bots. And it also has a chat facility. And it's free!

Yeah, 5.5 is like the minimum. That's why MemTool rocks. Just clean that shit up.

Au contraire, I love scrabble (and word games) and I really like poker, but this didn't do it for me. It look fantastic, well designed graphically but the gameplay just didn't work for me.

Doodle Jump is so bloody addictive. They keep updating I everytime it seems a little harder and I can't get close to my high score. Then out of nowhere you just dominate and get a big one. My best is 36,811.

Not really enjoying the new addition of movable platforms though. We need more jetpacks!
