Thanks mate! Bloody annoying! I downloaded 'Let's Golf 2' which is 300mb only to have it says 'invalid IPA'! And there's only one link for it!

A couple of other questions..
1) Does anyone have the app 'consume'? I've tried to link it up to my telstra phone account but it won't work! Not sure what I'm doing wrong..
2) Does anyone have 'Hipstamatic'? Are you able to download the 'hisptapaks' without paying for them?
Ask on Whirlpool about Consume. The creator posts there. Probably an answer on there

I have the app and works perfectly for me, just make sure your account details are correct - First time I did it it wouldn't validate because I put in a wrong number.

Just bought the iPhone4. I have a JB'ed 3GS, whats the best way to transfer contacts over? Thanks
Backups work from 3GS to 4. So backup 3GS and then restore to 4.

And thats all right eventhough my 3GS is Jb'ed? Also its only Jb'ed from like version ~3.1
Wouldn't know as I haven't done it, so can't day what files are restored to the 4.

Other options are Outlook or Gmail. I personally use Gmail.

Thanks mate, I've got it working now. I think I was trying to do it too early into my plan (the day after it started) so the info wasn't even ready on the Telstra site yet or something.
It still says I haven't used any of my data allowance though which is a bit confusing seeing as I definitely have..
May aswell just check though, the 'call quota' part is supposed to be the amount of $ you have to spend on calls/sms etc for the month right? I'm on a $49 cap which gives me $400 worth of calls so I put 400 in there which I think is correct..

Thanks for earlier responses guys.

Next question on internet tethering. I've been trying unsuccessfully to use my Win7 laptop connected via usb to my i4 to access the internet but no luck.

According to this site:
http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2010/07/08/how-to-tether-your-iphone-4/

Step 6: Choose “iPhone” from the list of available networks on your computer

However I don't have iPhone as a list of available networks. Any suggestions?

I also tried connecting via bluetooth as well but I could not even install the bluetooth drivers on my PC for the i4 :(

My steps (without reading that site)

1. Turn off Wifi on both iPhone and PC. Turn 3G on iPhone.

2. Turn Tethering on, selecting 'USB Only'

3. Connect iPhone to PC via USB cable.

4. Windows 7 should install some drivers, and will say your hardware is ready to use, or words to that effect.

5. Network Connections shows I am connected via a Wired Connection.

I never have to select anything on my PC. Just connects when it detects a modem (as the iPhone is acting as one)

Word on the street is 4.0.2 is being released later today. It is apparently just a patch for the PDF exploit that Jailbreakme.com is based around

If you want to keep your JB, DO NOT UPDATE to 4.0.2.

Be more specific. Telstra postpaid mobile, Telstra prepaid mobile or Telstra home phone? I have a prepaid and home phone configured in Consume.

The first step with any provider is to make sure you can successfully log in via the web.

Mr Jobs, is that you? :p

Is there anything you don't know about iphones? Worked a treat. Haven't got the bluetooth connection going yet but I'll try that later. USB is working which is all I need for now.

Got mine today. At home connected to my wifi it seriously struggles to load up any page at all. It says "Cannot open page: Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".

Any ideas what the issue may be? I have the maximum bar connection.
Ok, just following on from this issue.....

With no other device using my router at all, the issue remains. In my house there is often 3 laptops connected to the internet via wireless, as well as a PS3 at times. Often 3 things are using it at once.

My iphone is ridiculously slow on it, no matter what the usage, and rarely loads a page. I've reset the network and phone settings, but no luck. Has anyone had this issue before?

A question for anyone, is there any new awesome apps going around at the moment that I can get through Cydia? I have had mine jailbroken for quite sometime (3G), but haven't done much for a while, so I'm a little outta the loop.

Really depends on what you're after. There are plenty of really useful apps, but that's only if they're useful to you.

And to smiddaz. I would take it into an Apple Store and check their wifi, or even take it o a friends and try their wifi. Figure out if it is the phone or your wifi.

before i jailbreak my iphone 4 is there anything i need to do specifically? also can i export my contact list somehow incase i do have to restore to default?

The screen... OMFG. :D

Well I went through a lot of shit with Vodafone..long story...actually ended up with the phone in the end.....and thank god...the screen!

At first I saw a quick look at a mates and thought 'meh', but after using it a fair while and the difference with all the apps....it is literally like comparing SD TV to HDTV. Great stuff.

Every day I am extremely pissed how bad the iPhone Calendar and Contacts apps are. I'm sure for some people, these pitiful excuses for apps are enough to turn them to Blackberry or Android.

I had better PIM apps on my Palm Pilot 10 years ago.

you guys hear about the Telstra loophole? even more reason to go with Telstra.

http://apcmag.com/iphone-4-telstra-bumping-plans-to-6gb-if-you-ask.htm

Been reading the WP threads and plugging the numbers on this. So each Telstra plan (personal, not business) can be split into calls and data. The data portion can be dropped from the plan altogether. Telstra are offering bonus data packs at 50% until November 1, although the bonus data remains in place for the life of the contract. Taking off the included data and adding the half-price data pack must be done at the time of iPhone purchase.

http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/browsing_packs.html

$10.00 = 500M
$19.50 = 1G
$24.50 = 3G
$39.50 = 6G

The three 'cheapest' Telstra plans are:

$49 plan = $39 calls ($ 400 value) + $10 pack (200M + 300M bonus)
$79 plan = $59 calls ($ 750 value) + $20 pack (500M + 500M bonus)
$99 plan = $79 calls ($1000 value) + $20 pack (500M + 500M bonus)

Thus your options to increase your data become:

$49 plan, 500M data: $49
$49 plan, 1G data: $49 - $10 + $19.50 = $58.50
$49 plan, 3G data: $49 - $10 + $24.50 = $63.50 (extra 2.5GB for $14.50)
$49 plan, 6G data: $49 - $10 + $39.50 = $78.50

$79 plan, 1G data: $79
$79 plan, 3G data: $79 - $20 + $24.50 = $83.50 (extra 2GB for $4.50)
$79 plan, 6G data: $79 - $20 + $39.50 = $98.50

$99 plan, 1G data: $99
$99 plan, 3G data: $99 - $20 + $24.50 = $103.50 (extra 2GB for $4.50)
$99 plan, 6G data: $99 - $20 + $39.50 = $118.50

And some Telstra tweets as evidence:

http://twitter.com/Telstra/status/20772259028
http://twitter.com/Telstra/status/20695022275

just found a WP post that had already done the math: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1498629&p=7#r125

EDIT: Telstra do offer 12-month contracts - http://apcmag.com/telstra-offers-12-month-contracts-for-iphone-4.htm
EDIT: international SMS is not included in Telstra caps, they're 50c each
EDIT: of course, it might just be better to go on a business plan - http://www.telstrabusiness.com/business/portal/online/site/productsservices/bonusdataoffer.230001

I've got the $79 plan. Very good value IMO especially from Telstra. It's well known they are trying to begin an aggressive pricing strategy as they have taken some huge hits from competitors in recent times
