is AFL Live worth getting?

For those who own it or have played a demo before? is it really worth getting? or just a piece of shit?

Its good if you can play online with a decent connection.
I played 10 matches straight were I lost online and was just about to give up on it.
But then I started to win ruck contest's etc and now on a 8 win streak.
It's a good game if you want to have some fun with mates but it lacks longevity with no
rolling season mode. Also graphics aint much to poke a stick at.

All in all i give it a 7/10 (really a 5 but since i'd rather have a afl then non ill give it a 7)

Buy it from eb games they give you 7 days trial and then you can bring it back.

Mate I'm being absolutely honest here. If you like AFL games get it. This version is very bare in terms of features etc, but in terms of gameplay, it shits all over previous AFL games.

I suggest ya buy it and enjoy it for what it is and that is a game that needs work but is still highly enjoyable and anticipate the next version which will only be better.

Yes! But get it from EB so it is easy to take back if you disagree. Play 10+ games before making up your mind - it's only when you get the hang of the controls and gameplay do you really start having fun & that doesn't happen straight away.

Agreed you definitely have to learn the controls to enjoy it. At first you will get smashed and it will just seem like a U9's tackle and kick fest.

Spot on- it's bloody hard initially but doesn't take long to improve. I'm absolutely loving it atm!

If you're not a w***er that expects to be awesome straight away or expects features that were confirmed to not be in the game about a year ago, this is an excellent game. I disliked it at first but now that I've got the hang of it, I'm having so much fun.

Got it today, so far I'm very impressed. Hearing the 'holy grail' on the main menu made me think wow this was really worth getting It is tough at first, starting to get use to the controls.

Yeah I've turned it off (I like the song but it was getting too much). XBOX allows you to run your own soundtrack so will be whacking a few albums in while I play.

Can I just ask along a similar vein how comprehensive the player and team creation is?

I don't mind a lack of rolling franchise mode provided I can create all of my mates, put them in a team i've created and play a season with them. Is this possible?

Tbh, i'll likely get the game either way, but this is a massive selling point for me.

Pretty sure you can, i created Tom Brady and put him on at full forward
But yeah you create a player and then assign him to the team you want, which can include your custom team (mine is the Boston Patriots because New England wouldn't fit...not enough space whcih im sure would get fixed in the next iteration).
Easy as Pie...the create a player is quite good, better than Madden where you have set faces etc. but you could easily sit there for 10 minutes trying to mould the face in AFL.

The game gets better the more you play it, definitely worth it once you get passed the "this game is ****ing shit, i don't have enough time to do anything, the rucking sucks! the marking is stupid!"

Once past all that it it quite a good game

This game has the potential to be so much better in future titles. All bugs aside the only issue I have really is:

- Deliberate out of bounds is rarely paid
- Soccer off the floor is too common
- Not being able to out run opposition/easily get around them.

Other than that, the game play is excellent. I am getting used to it and enjoy playing online, like all games it sucks if your losing but when you start to win you will enjoy it more.

For next season I would like the following included:
- More indepth creation centre (team creation mainly)
- Career mode
- Fantasy draft (at the start of career mode)

Well I got it this morning and have been playing it all day and I'm pretty impressed. It's not amazing but it's very nice to see AFL in a decent game for once.
I'd say rent it or buy it from EB so you can return it if you don't like it.
It's definitely worth checking out.

Have being playing the last 2 days, the gameplay is a disappointment, no better than any other AFL game thats ever been made.


Noot sure that settings you need to make the game semi-realistic , but an example of how stupid it is is that I just played on Veteran level and the computer kicked 7 goal in the fist 3 minutes.

No i am not kidding.

The opponent is ALWAYS first to a loose ball, theres no chance of getting a decent clearance because you get tackled straight away, the Gameplay is too fast and way to many goals are scored.
