AFL Club
Geelong
Dangerous to flirt with form but with such a tough finals series campaign coming up, there have been signs of a definite drop in attitude toward the way they are going about their footy.
The run has dried up and even the midfielders apart from a couple of standouts have halted.

They look to have heavy legs watching them play at the minute but perhaps they gone about things just perfectly as they could now be set for a top 4 spot and in doing so...have pretty much made it without exerting too much energy in games against Hawthorn, St Kilda, North Melbourne and West Coast

They won't beat Freo, Geelong or Nth next week..

Collingwood will smack Fremantle and they will defeat North Melbourne next time around. Geelong and Collingwood games are always 50/50

And you base that on what? :S

Who would risk a double-chance to fox!? Ridiculous thread.

This.

Collingwood are relying on other results going their way just to make top 4 now so why would they deliberately fox and risk missing top 4 and a double chance? The fact is they just aren't that good and will be lucky to make a prelim let alone a GF in the form they are in.

perhaps but they seem to have done the job and in doing so as I suggested...haven't played their best football since mid-way through the year.

But you definitely are correct with your post, why risk a chance for top spot, right?

I just think this threads sums up that it's hard to rationalise the form slump, you'd think they'd be really annoyed they missed the flag last year and super motivated at this point of the season.

Why will Collingwood smack Freo and beat North?

come on man, you been around footy long enough to realize the difference in quality of players when you see it.
Fremantle have been excellent the last 5-6 weeks but who have they played along the way?
Dees, Dogs, GWS, Power, Eagles (great win), Crows, Tigers and then Roos.

North Melbourne have had a similar run having to contend with Eagles, Blues, Tigers, Dees, Dogs, Bombers, Pies and then Freo.

Sure you can only play, beat whoever you are fixtured against but out of all those teams..North Melbourne have yet to play the Crows, Swans, Cats or Hawks and same can be similarly said for the Dockers.

It's just that the better teams will find a few extra gears when finals begins and Collingwood will no doubt be one of them while Fremantle and North Melbourne exit in predicted fashion after a terrific season.

It's true that Collingwood have more upside than Freo or North and are capable of playing better football at their best but whether they can produce that is doubtful given their form this year. Cloke and Dawes have been poor all year and it's hard to see them turning their form around by the time finals start.

Freo's form has been pretty good recently but they haven't beaten any real sides of note apart from West Coast and they were injury depleted at the time, they were convincingly beaten by Adelaide at AAMI. North's form has also been pretty good but after their loss to Freo you would have to have doubts about them doing much in finals. Hard to see them beating the top few sides.

I think Geelong are the real dark horse and probably the only team capable of winning a flag from outside the top 4, at their best they can beat every other team in the top 4 even when they are playing at their best as well.

There is no foxing but the intensity will lift in September. I expect Collingwood to be able to account for Freo and North and to be able to at least match Adelaide and Sydney as they have done already this year and in recent history. I don't think they will beat Hawthorn and Geelong will be pretty difficult. WCE will be somewhere between Geelong and Sydney as an opponent. Collingwood match up better against Sydney than they do against WCE. WCE/COllingwood will come down to venue IMO.

No we are not foxing.

coming from a Collingwood supporter that's pretty telling.
Swan, Pendlebury, Thomas have been pretty average by their standards over the last month so you'd assume that will left unless hidden injuries are holding em back.

The gap on the genuine flag favorite may have narrowed yet again.
