Fly made it easy for his players by drilling it into them from the day he walked in the doors. The only reason why the players need little direction now is because they have matured and added layers on top of the current system/gameplan.

Without Fly the players don’t go into those set plays that almost won them the game. If Crisp kicked it we’d all be declaring Fly the best in it.

If he’s being out coached in round 8 that’s fine by me, as long as it’s not a final.
They still threw away a last quarter lead though despite a brilliant last 3 minutes.

Scott was the one who changed up how Geelong were playing "on the Fly", had great success with Mullin on Daicos, Dempsey and Blicavs pushing forward from the wings etc. Geelong were being dominated in most categories but Scott pulling the strings switched the momentum.

I missed the game tonight. Noticed that Collingwood were down at halftime but invariably won their ninth third quarter this year, having lost only once in third quarters this year. They're currently +150 this year in third quarters, well ahead of the second-best team, Freo (+101), with that other terrible coach, according to Bigfooty, Longmuir.

How did Collingwood set up their zone after halftime? Did they full-press, intro forward 50, almost like an old Clarko Custer?

He's coaching exceptionally well this year but the real test will obviously come in finals. Our defensive structure looks so sound, no matter who we bring in; that's been our massive strength and a sign we're back to our best.

There's been a lot of talk about Houston as he was a high profile acquisition but I think Perryman has been our best pickup. Dude is hard as nails, defensively one of our best and offers some versatility if we need in the middle. He has been solid as a rock this year. McRae and the list managers have been elite at really honing in on a player they have a specific role for and slotting them in perfectly.

Yes, switched to a forward press, and overwhelmed North's angle kicking gamestyle through the ground.
Then North tried to handball out of defence in the last quarter which wasn't their style, but credit to them trying something different and it made the turnovers more devastating hence the avalanche.
