Health Is it rude?

So last night i was on an overnight bus from Adelaide to Melbourne. The bus left at 8:15pm and was due to arrive at 6:30am. I was sitting next to an old fella who was like a statue, hardly moved for the entirety of the trip. :thumbsu: It was behind me where I was having a problem.

The 2 people behind me were women in their early 20's and were both obese smokers. Starting at about 9pm and lasting for pretty much the rest of the trip one of them started snoring and snoring loud. After about 30mins of it I looked around and noticed people were getting annoyed. I even heard he person sitting across the isle from me say to herself "Oh shut the **** up!".

Now knowing that a lot of people around me were getting annoying and that their friend had completely ignored the fact she was snoring, is it rude to take matters into my own hand, wake up the snorer and tell them to close their mouth when they sleep? Take into account the fact that they've got their friend sitting next to them who SHOULD be the person doing it.

Should have just yelled out 'free donuts'.

I reckon situations like that you have to fight for your rights more so than normal.

"Yes we're finally here!!!!....Halfway, thank god for that."

Tough decision. A domestic may have broken out if something was said, perhaps should have told her friend to tell her to pipe down.
Yeah i thought about that too. But if their friend hadn't given them a jab in the ribs and said "Oi you're snoring loudly..." I doubt they wouldn't appreciated me telling them to tell their friend to shut up.

I just couldn't believe how disrespectful this friend was to the rest of the passengers. It was a real loud snoring. Almost as if they was trying to suck the oxygen out of the bus. How could this friend act as if it wasn't happening?

Sometimes people just confuse the hell out of me...

If it had been a hot chick who was snoring, it would be cute and you could abide. With a couple of fat chicks it's not.

Truth and reality aren't always fair. When they are, it's quite nice and we can all ride a unicorn through a rainbow. In all other situations, never hesitate to launch a high decibel STFU at a snoring fat chick.

How exactly does someone make sure that they keep their mouth closed when they are sleeping?
If u fall asleep with ur mouth closed, ur a very strong chance of it remaining closed whilst you're asleep. And if it does happen to come open, ur not likely to snore as you've developed a strong breathing pattern through your nose.

Why the hell did you choose the bus to get from Adelaide to Melbourne?
Was a late, emergency trip return and it was booked a couple of days before the actual trip so the Bus was the cheapest form of transport by nearly $200. Took the bus TO Adelaide, but thankfully didn't have this problem. If i could have travelled during the day, i would have just driven myself. Unfortunately this wasn't possible. :thumbsd:

P.S Fat chicks who smoke. Is there anything more unattractive? :thumbsd:

It probably is a bit rude but what are you to do? I would have done the same thing.

On a domestic flight in the US this little girl (about 5) sat behind me and was kicking my seat whilst talking about dicks and penises to her little brother. Their mum was in the opposite isle. I asked her 4 times to stop kicking my seat (i'd been in transit for over 20 hours). Eventually her mum swapped seats with her brother and she stopped.

I wanted to kill this girl but didn't want to go to jail so just daydreamed about a scenario where by the plane goes down and i have the opportunity to save her but don't.

it's entirely your own fault.

If you travel, on any mode of long term travel, without ear plugs and an eye cover, it's your own damn fault.

People snore. They can't help it. It's not a conscious decision. Therefore, you can either sook about this fact, or take measures to ensure you aren't affected.

It would be very rude to wake them. It's your own fault for not having earplugs (cost: about $2:00, available pretty much anywhere)

If she was fat and A smoker then it doesn't surprise me at the rudeness and general not giving a hoot about others around them except themselves.

And most likely being obese and a smoker, saying something to her would have been taken personally causing her blood pressure to rise and causing her to go agro.

They are all the same.

Fat people who smoke.

Not it's not. I hate this attitude, hence why people THINK they can do as they please in this country.

How about some respect? Or is it his fault as well for daring to want some respect for a long drive?

You need to draw the line sometimes. And this is one line that is perfectly fine to draw!

respect?? You think it's about respect?? You funny little man.

You do realise that people can't help snoring, don't you? If it's completely involuntary, as it is, how do you think they can decide to "show some respect" exactly? Do you maybe think that people who snore should simply not be allowed to sleep on transport because some poor diddums didn't think to pick up some earplugs? :o

I never fly anywhere without earplugs and eye-covers. And guess what? I'm never bothered by people who snore! Amazing!!!

Fancy sticking up for rude people. No wonder society is in decline when we have people like YOU. what is wrong with wanting some respect? Is respect such a taboo these days?

It's ****en rude and thats that. You're a loud snorer? Then either sleep 24 hours prior so you remain awake, go see your doctor or go to a chemist and buy something that helps you stop snoring. No excuse.

It goes both ways bucko.

Stop sooking about it. Take responsibility for yourself and buy some earplugs. Problem solved. Couldn't be easier.

But instead for you it's a symptom of society going down the tube. Are you always so hysterical?

Hysterical at someone snooring? Not really if that was me on that bus i would have let her know.

What i am hysterical about is people like you who always seem to stick up for the rude, disrespectful and ill mannered people by saying it's ours (those of us who still believe in good manners respect and all those old school values) fault for not preparing ourselfs for others rudeness. I mean how dare we!!

BTW

How about we both share a flight and just say i am some overweight person who snores, sweats out my fatty food regardless and farts non stop. Sure you can block out my snoring..but what about the disgusting smell of my odour. Will you put up with it for a whole 20 hours?

Or do you also make sure you carry little scented nose plugs?

Sounds fair. In a civilised society it's the responsibility of those who could be potentially causing disruptive actions to reign themselves in, in consideration of others, not expecting others to accommodate them.

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the one. Although the one probably outweighed quite a few :p

Snoring, loud music, BO, farting, talking loudly - all things people should have enough respect for others when in public not to do when it would/could disturb them. The 'it's all about me' attitude shown is what's wrong with too many people these days.

Good grief; snorer or not people have to sleep. Can't expect someone to stay awake because it affects your sensibilities.

If you know you are a loud snorer then maybe do something about it.

This isn't 1940s there are remedies to help you sleep at night without the snoring.

For me snoring plays on my nerves. I hate it and once someone starts snoring i can't sleep nor relax.

I knew it Lance!!

I just knew the reason for the massive decline in society was you!! Finally my suspiciions have been confirmed. :p

But yeah in all seriousness she was snoring, it wasnt rude or disrepectful, might not be pleasant but easily solved through ear plugs, headphones etc, if your going on a long journey, go prepared.
