Does anyone think that Roo can come straight into the 22 and make much of an impact, personally I think he is a bit of a risk he hasn't played for a long time and is a bit injury prone. It seems once a player plays 300 games he is finished, does anybody have any comment.

He kicked 6 after no pre-season last year so he will be right. My guess is he will return for the Geelong game as it's a few weeks ago and at Footy Park.

He has'nt played a game for 9 months and not long after the collingwood game he got injured.

Would it be such a silly idea to bring him back and have him play half of each qtr? Then at least its some match fitness. But then again, the TD surface might not do him any favours..

no point playing him against Carlton and Melbourne anyway.

I reckon we will win those games but they are far from a foregone conclusion...

Both teams, especially Carlton, have played well in patches this season.

Our side, while strengthening on paper, may or may not fire due to the unsettling influence of players returning (2-3 this week most likely).

Also, the 3 forwards that, IMHO, really seem to test Rutten (though stats may prove me wrong) are Richardson, Fevola, and Neitz.

Having said that, Crows by 40+:D

As for Roo, i predict he will return against Melbourne

It perhaps wouldn't be a bad idea to give him a run in these games (if he's physically ready) to get him up and firing at AFL level before we hit the real dominant and in-form sides of the comp being Geelong, Kangas & West Coast in rounds 11, 12 & 13.

Not that either Melbourne or Carlton are sure bets but they're not the force/threat that the other teams are shaping to be that we'll meet in the following rounds where we can't afford to have under-done and under-performing players making up numbers!

Will be a close game remember Carlton kicked 20 goals last week and lost:eek:

We were a tad undisciplined last week and took the foot off the pedal twice after blowing it out to a 5 goal plus buffer. I think a bigger concern for Carlton is that our non-existant forward line kicked 22.15. Fev, Whitnall and a few of their other forwards had reasonable games.

That being said, Carlton came out to play and they were good in the middle and got plenty of the ball despite us tagging Murphy (who only got 6 disposals) and Gibbs playing somewhere down back where he had no real influence on the game.

I think this could be a danger game for the Crows, if they come out like they did last week they could cause some problems. However, I expect your tighter defense to limit the opportunities they have far more than we did. Just don't go to sleep like we do after a 5-7 goal lead. :p

Melbourne is a worry for me. They'll have almost a full strength side when we play them - and they certainly won't be as bad as they were 3 rounds ago when they were without Rivers, Neitz, Robbo, McLean etc. They're nowhere near as bad as their current record suggests.
Wouldn't be surprised if they gave us a spot of trouble.

i think the roo will be good to go straight to the afl when ever he says he is right! little worried that he'll never get properly fit again tho but hey he would still be a very useful player to have out on the park! hope he makes it in to one of the next 2 games against either carl or melb firstly so he can get a bit of a run without being too much of a burden against a higher ranked side, and secondly as a fan living in melb i would love to see him runnin afound!!! neither side is a sure bet tho but if we cant win them we have no hope of winning much toward the end of the yr anyway so it wont matter!!!!

Neil Craig said after last weeks match that if he had asked roo to play, he would of been able to and would of probably got through it, im not sure how much of a stretch that was.

He would probably have his fitness up a bit since hes been "two weeks away" for the last month.

That said, I would hate for them to do anything that risked his long term health, no point coming back for a couple weeks, then in and out for the rest of the year.

I like to see him play at least a quarter against Melbourne...
Not only because I'm at the game... But because, well, I'm at the game...

I'm pretty sure that Craig will take that into his consideration when selecting the team, Beck, it seems a fair enough reason ;) :D
