Just in case you’ve missed Patrick Cripps in the first 2 weeks …
Here’s a message for the rest of the competition …

See this is your mistake. When people small blokes are going to struggle in modern midfields, they're not talking about players that are over 180cm tall.s**t canning Cripps I don't like.
He is obviously an absolute gun.
Simplifying things to size isn't smart. Each individual has their own attributes that balance out.
I think it's silly to talk about dinosaurs.
Also silly to say small blokes can't make it in the "modern" game when we see blokes like Butters, Nick Daicos and Gulden dominate.

Zak Butters is 181cm and Nick Daicos is 184cm. Mark Ricciuto was 185cm did anyone ever say he was a small bloke?
A "Collingwood 6footer" used to be an old joke in the VFL, where the Pies would recruit a new key forward that they claimed was 6 foot tall. You've just described someone that size as a small.

Weird flex when he was bog average against Brisbane.
Make no mistake,
Cripps was the man that turned the tide in Brisbane …
Zak butters is a highly regarded mid with a small frame and average clearance gameIsn't everyone described as 'big bodied' these days?
I can't really think if a small bodied midfielder off the top of my head.
Jackson couldThere’s still only 10cm between Cripps and Rozee. Would like to see a true 200cm 110kg beast play full time mid.
Jackson could
To my eye though, I reckon Zac Buttress has a bigger body than say, Jack Steele. But Jack Steele gets referred to as a 'big bodied midfielder'.Zak butters is a highly regarded mid with a small frame and average clearance game
Under 6ft and under 80kgs is small to me.To my eye though, I reckon Zac Buttress has a bigger body than say, Jack Steele. But Jack Steele gets referred to as a 'big bodied midfielder'.
I honestly think the term is just another lazy, throw away line that footy people throw around to make themselves sound smart.
Under 6ft and under 80kgs is small to me.
Like everything in life things evolve and right at this moment in 2024 on the dawn of a brand new season are we seeing big bodied mids go the way of the dinosaur? For years we have seen big bodied mids put on the top the mountain for recruiting and trading but now it seems in a twist the game which has been so kind to them has past them by? Watching cripps tonight look like an old schools full forward lost back tracking into defence it really hit that the dream of having a 194cm 100kg workhorse might be over. No speed no agility but undeniable smarts and contested work just doesn’t seem to cut it in 2024. Wines, cripps being pushed to the wayside by contemporaries that are inches smaller and kilos lighter but so much more likened to the new age game.
They mostly forgot about the interpretation change last night.I thought shortening the amount of time the ball carrier has in a tackle would have a bigger impact on the larger kids.
Doesn’t seem to have made alotve difference.
