As the title suggests, does the Goo face the door as trade bait or will the club persevere with him beyond this season?? I'm a fan of his athletic ability but do you all believe he can make the cut into the future ?? I hope he can. Just thought I'd put it out there.

Don;t think he would be trade bait as not many clubs would take him.

Personally I think he should be given 10 games in a row at CHB in the 1's. Asbtury from all reports has not been up to the same standard in the VFL...must be more to the story here.

Not really trade bait - he has no currency. This is his last year to show something or he won't be around next year, with only half the season left time is seriously running out for him. Would need to come in the next few weeks to have enough games left to prove he's got something to offer in the future.

He's still not very old is he. Could it be that he may just need more time as a big guy ? Once again Just a thought. If I recall as a big guy with athletic ability Cloke at C'wood has taken some time. I know different positions but similar in height, build athletic-ness and in my mind has taken a bit of time to come on to how he's been this season. (or has it just been my imagination?) Maybe I just live in hope.

He has no value to other sides at the moment, and if he does play a few games in the 2nd half of the season and becomes of some value then he is still probably going to be of greater value to us than any other side in the comp.

A . Our backline stocks are poo so could make an awesome rookie listed player next year

B. Would like to see him play up forward for Coburg consistantly this year before any decisions are made. Consistantly meas at least 4 weeks in a row in my feeble mind.

The reason why he was elevated was because he spent the maximum amount of time a player is allowed to be kept as a Rookie before having to be let go or promoted on to the senior list.

Goo is so over rated around these parts it's not funny, in his 2-3 games he had last year he didn't show much at all, he has very good athletic attributes that you would want in a player, but for me he just doesn't have a footballers brain, his disposal is shocking and his pre-season was sub-par, at best, his VFL form has been poor and apart from the odd game where he is named in the best they are few and far between.

Hislop a guy coming off multiple surgeries to his knees was named in the best for Coburg for 4 weeks straight, he kicked goals, got plenty of clearances and possessions and from what a lot of on lookers and Coburg reports he has cleaned up his disposal and gotten his pace back.

The only other person who deserves a call up is Webberley, but as it is we don't have someone to bring out of the team to bring him in.

No way. If he's delisted he won't be around at AFL level next year. Which would be a shame because he still has enormous potential.

Gourdis is contracted to the end of next year but with the events of this year no doubt both the club he will be looking to move on, pointless him playing out another year at Coburg. 6 clubs screaming for a fullback, so maybe a 4 round draft pick isn't out of the question

in.

good to see hislop followed up his amazing coburg form with a 3 brownlow vote game today

as for goo...well he is really underrated here so I hope he gets picked up by a west coast or freo when we delist him at end of year

Yeah let's trade a guy who has played 2 senior games for Scully. I reckon that would work.
Most opposition supporters wouldn't even know this kid's name.

:)Agree totally Tugga ol' pal! The love for the Goo is a Richmond thing alone - his rating among other clubs other than VFL teams would be zero.
While I am not certain of all the reasons, there is obviously a major one or a few as to why he can't break into the team! It's not coincidence!

He had 4 disposals in the First Quarter coming on as a sub and went quite after he copped a heavy knock in a marking contest in the second quarter, I thought he did a few nice things for his first game back after almost a year out.

And my point I was making in my previous post was that others have had consecutive weeks of being named in the best whereas Gourdis has been named best about 3 times all spaced apart in about 3 week blocks.

Ain't true MT, I think that's 4 in a row now for the Goo, or at least 3 out the last 4, two of which he was our best player. Before this last month he played up forward for 2 weeks because Miller had come into the senior team and Griff was still working his way back through the 3rds. The week before that he only played a half because of injury. When he's played his natural position, he has just about always been named in the best. Same as in 2010.

Just checked the last 4 Coburg reports and he was named Best twice, once in the game just gone past and the other one in the 39 point win over Collingwood.

Not trade bait at all. IMO if he doesn't play this week against Brissy then he will be delisted and maybe a club will pick him up on the rookie list. Not going to get many better chances in the backline, with this injury list...

i might be the first to say it then, he might just get a game next week
Well we'll all wait with baited breath for next 4 days! Seeing as Thursfield has been out with injury, Moore and Grimes on LTI and Astbury has serious knee injury the only other KP defender option is Post. Even if McGuane is fit to play Brissy we will surely need a 3rd tall defender. From what I saw late in 2010 and on TV this year in VFL Goo has definite potential to be a permanent fixture as either 1st or 2nd tall defender. I think Grimes is the ideal 3rd tall.

If this is accurate IZE (and I hope so). It looks like the Goo will get his chance and all the best to him. He has the type of physique and athletisism that we could use. I hope he can put it all together :thumbsu:
