If you had told me 12 months ago I’d be toasting this bloke I’d have fallen over.

It feels like just having a raking left footer adds something unique but he’s also:

6th for disposals
3rd for i50s
9th for goal assists
4th for rebound 50s
1st for bounces
3rd for metres gained
8th for score involvements

He would have to be top 5 in the B&F at this point.

What a pickup!

I was not happy getting him after last year i thought he was done, but i love watching him play must be a good bloke everyone seems to like him, I just wish he was 28 so we get more years out of him, great pick up

He looked cooked at Hawthorn but I was wrong. Seems like a fantastic, life of the club type guy too. How good was it when he jumped the fence to get the ball and held it up to the crowd in the Hickey Stand? 😂

Can’t teach that premiership experience either - the kick to Rohan in the last 30 seconds was absolutely perfect.

What he is producing at his age is absolutely fantastic..i knew hes a good runner and a great kick but hes harder at the contest and has more footy smarts than i realised. Going to be huge for us in finals this year.

I dont want to finicky. He seems a very good kick on the run no doubt.... but as we have seen , he is not Rohan after the siren.

Having said that. Smith at his age has me surprised. How long did we sign him for?

I think people were blinded by him wearing the hawthorn jumper. He past few years were only bad because of the team he was playing in. Hard for a wingman to dominate when you are getting thrashed every 2nd game

Probably plead guilty to that as well. I struggle sometimes to see other players with clarity in their jumpers. Occasionally players like Hodge for example there is no denial but with Smith , I have undervalued him.

Shoved my football IQ right up the pipe.

Was 1000% really wrong with him. Didnt like it much at the time but he's just killing it for us.

Difference maker big time.

Go Catters

Slotted into the team beautifully, and exactly the type of player we needed.
We have a lot of 30m players, guys like Guthrie for example, they'll run 5 to chip 25, whereas Smith is an 80m player, run 20 and kick 60, exactly the type we desperately needed.

I like how confident he is - and plays like that

He is confident in his ability and skill level

Of the players from other clubs who have come in off the top of my head ( ignoring Dangerfield ) but Rivers and Smith for mine are the pick - both played really good football

Had to go back to recall what I said when he arrived. The Clark bit… 👀

As I made ref in the Stewart thread.... is Smith another example of maturity at draft. How old was he when drafted? 20/21? Show that Clark probably has a few years to get to the level Smith was at drafting.

Has had a very consistent season. Now all I'd like is the term "Geelong Premiership Player, Isaac Smith" to become a reality just to utterly destroy the Hawthorn trolls that make up 98% of my bigfooty ignore list, haha.
Would you take them all off ignore just to see their reactions?

2 years with an option for a 3rd in his favour (if he plays a certain no of games over 2 years).

The most frustrating thing about watching him in the hoops this year is that it's just added to the frustration of us not drafting him back in 2010

I've never been one who's been totally up on draft prospects and such, but he was the one I really wanted to pick up in 2010

So happy to see him finally in the hoops

Nah. If we win the flag I'll be too happy and content to want to actually wallow in negativity - though I'm sure I could someday. Print them all out and fix them to a wall of bitterness I can look at whenever I need a laugh.
