Italy will win the world cup
That Italy will win the world cup
Italy has a greater chance of wining the 2010 world cup because they have won the world cup in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006. They have there best players playing for then. Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon
Defenders: Fabio Cannavaro, Giorgio Chiellini , Gianluca Zambrotta
Midfielders: Mauro Camoranesi, Daniele De Rossi, Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo
Forwards: Marco Borriello , Vincenzo Iaquinta , Fabio Quagliarella
The Italian players are not actors the are super stars there are some of the best players in the world. In 2006 when Italy played against Australian and Lucas Neil tripped Materazzi in the penalty box and it was a penalty that was the right call by the referee because Lucas tripped him on the box to injure him so that they would win the world cup. THEY ARE NOT ACTORS

Wow, this is just plain awful in so many ways. Probs a troll and he has therefore succeeded but just in case it's not lets review. Points of contention in bold.

1- Wasn't aware that the events of 1934, 38 had much baring on the 2010 event. How exactly does this make them more likely to triumph?

2. Most these players are past their prime now, 4 years on from 2006 they have got worse, not better.

3- The 3 strikers you named have a combined 8 goals between them in 57 caps, not exactly a record to be feared.

4- How the F*** does lying down in the box suggest that Neil wanted to injure him? This is perhaps your worst call of the entire post. Grosso initiated the contact to win a penalty, he could have easily avoided contact if he wasn't trying to win the penalty. Mind you it would probably been justice if he had got injured. But to say Neil was trying to injure him is ludicrous.

5- Italy are among the worst divers in the game. Yes you are far from alone in that regard, but your players often go down quicker than a $2 hooker.

Rant over

Grosso has absolutely no duty to avoid contact, he has the possession of the ball, making an attacking run, it is 100% the duty of the defender not to make contact. Sliding on the ground that far away from the ball inside the box is asking for trouble. Neill is a sloppy defender and paid the ultimate price.

Grosso is a diver and a disgrace like the entire Italian National team but I have to admit, it was ******ed of Neil to do a slide tackle inside the box toward the end of the game.

However, it's still utterly stupid to think Neil tried to injure him. One of the most stupid things I've heard on these boards.

You could also say it was stupid of Guus not to bring Kennedy on earlier considering they were down to 10 men.

Oh great original post...not.
Not the greatest Italy team, and they wont win it this time, hopefully a decent showing though.
Lippi will be gone and prandelli can bring in some youth.

And england dont dive and Aus dont play rough? please..

Grosso is no more a diver than basically every other player plying their trade in the cut-throat top leagues of the world. 100% Neill's fault but it is expected that the Australian public are misled by the media to encourage blaming external factors, like those damn foreigners, especially those Italians.

Agreed that Neill wasn't trying injure or hurt anyone, as a matter of fact I bet he doesn't even know what he was trying to do on the ground like that 5 seconds before the ball is anywhere near him.

wasn't Materazzi who got tripped, was Fabio Grosso, you might remember who from such seens as: scoring the late goal in extra time against germany to get into the final and scoring the winning penalty in the shootout against france.

peace out!

Better Italy than England anyday, Or the united nations of africa (France)

It's funny how everyone conveniently forgets that materazzi was ridiculously red carded in the same match, as agreed upon unanimously by the aussie sbs commentary team immediately post-match. They were cut at what had happened, but somehow were able to admit that materazzi shouldn't have been sent off.

The very decision that allowed australia to be a man up for about a half of football, yet only manage two weak shots on goal for the entire duration of this time.

Well put. :thumbsu:

But "more popular than France" is hardly a compliment is it?

It's like "better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick". Or "not as shit as Carlton".
Hahaha. Very true. Was just quoting a scenario from the Simpsons.

However at the moment my team is worse than Carlton (so is yours tbh) :(

Buffon (2006) > Buffon (2010)
Zambrotta > Maggio
Nesta > Chiellini
Cannavaro (2006) > Cannavaro (2010)
Grosso > Whoever is the Italian left back these days
Gattuso > De Rossi
Pirlo (2006) > Pirlo (2010)
Camoranesi (2006) > Camoranesi (2010)
Perrotta < Marchisio
Totti > Di Natale
Toni and Gilardino are about even.

So that is 9 of the 11 players are clearly worse than their respective counterparts from 4 years ago. Plus 4 years ago Inzaghi and Del Peiro were on the bench while the current bench is average.

Thats 10 world class players that the Italian team had 4 years ago whereas I would only consider 3 players of the current Italian team as top players but not world class. This Italian team will flop very badly just like the French and Argentina will.

Frankster you mad because the likes of Gallas, Diaby and co are rocking bigger artillery than you.

I'm not writing france off completely, they some of the best players in the world in their starting lineup. Hopefully the get their act together.
