It is time, he is more than ready. Clarke continuously gets destroyed by opposition ruckmen. Troy Simmonds is a part time ruckman, yet he completely outclassed Clarke in the ruck today. And the area of most concern is the free ride he gives opponents around the ground, it’s not acceptable. Maric is ready to play AFL footy, he dominates every week in the local competition.

It's time to step aside Clarke.

Even if he is not ready, it’s time for a Ruck change as Biglands and Clarke were :D:D:D:Ding awful today and it’s only been the good form of a few midfielders than have made them look a lot better than they actually have.

Oh and FFS MAN UP

It's time for Meeson as well. Drop Clarke and Scott Stevens. Try something out of the square and play Biglands and Center-Half-Back. He has SPEED *and* STRENGTH, and can take a mark as well.

Play Maric as number one ruck and start Meeson on the bench.

Play both young ruckmen, and get them sponsered by BIG M! :)

Bit early to do a preview of the round 9 game Vs Carlton but what are our early thought about the changes

In: Maric, Knights, Torney, Skipworth

Out: Ben Hart (injured wrist), Scott Stevens, Clarke, Van Berlo

I would give Scott Welsh at least one more week in the SANFL as Mark Ricciuto can stay in the forward line, it would be major risk to play both Torney and Welsh as they are underdone but one is needed to come in cover the loss of Ben Hart, I guess it would be easier for Torney.

Chris Knight and Hayden Skipworth to get another opportunity and they can come into the side for Nathan Van Berlo and Scott Steven (we may as well have a flanker in the side as apposed to him), NVB should go back to South for a full game as he was terrible today, Ivan Maric in for the struggling Mathew Clarke

The 3 scapegoats for today’s loss would be Scott Stevens, Mathew Clarke and Nathan Van Berlo.

He probably had about 25% of game time, so how can you possibly single him out? I'm quite annoyed because he was great against Melbourne; awesome in shutting down Brad Johnson, but all of a sudden his game time is being reduced dramatically for no apparent reason. Shocking handling of VB. :thumbsd:

Not too many changes Crow

Hart out Massie back and a midfield option comes in ie Skipworth

Clarke maybe and Maric in

VB stays in my side, 1 bad game doesnt crucify him in my book

Apart from that lets see what eventuates

That’s why he should go back and have a full run, he is only getting ½ a game and it’s no wonder he confidence may be down. He was shyzzen today (but he was also no orphan in that department)

Go back to South Adelaide and get a full game like Chris Knights and Hayden Skipworth have had to do.

Gee aren't we a fickle lot

BTW, Simmonds hardly a "part time" ruckman. Anyone who has half followed AFL over the years would know that

Please Stiffy_18 it’s very noble of you to stand up for Clarke and Biglands but Troy Simmons is a good player but he should never have had that much influence on the game. The fact that he was best on ground simply shows how poorly the Ruck duos have played this season.

That is one of the most pathetic, yet predictable posts I’ve read. Of course you will defend Clarke and call everyone who disputes his worth to the team as fickle. First question I have is what exactly does Clarke offer to our side? I tell you what though, he likes to get opposition ruckmen involved with the game, I'll give the Doc that. :thumbsu:

And Troy Simmonds spend the majority of his career at the Demons as a CHF, and his first two years at the Dockers were spent majority as a ruckmen, however the then got shifted to the forward line where he booted 35 goals. I suggest you do some research before trying to make others look stupid.

More about the call for many changes I would expect

Clarke is one of those whose position will be looked at ...but he is still number 2 at the AFC

These are the statements I’ve made:

Stevens: Discarded
Burton: Frustrating inconsistencies
McGregor: Spell in the SANFL
Clarke: Pathetic, time for Maric.

Disagree?

Stevens one more week

Burton thats what you get with Burton

McGregor hidden injury wait for Bock

Clarke time coming to an end soon and Maric knocking down doors

Simmonds was second ruckman for Melbourne behind Jeff White. He would pinch hit in the forward line but more than anything he was a second ruckman. I watch Melbourne quite a lot.
He was moved to a more permanent forward role at Fremantle but that was after Sandilands developed as a #1 ruckman.

Drummond - were you at the West Coast game? did you actually pay attention to Clarke in the last quarter? He kept the most dangerous West Coast player well in our forward lines and stopped their run, when Biglands came on he wasn't as defensive as Matty and Cox was able to get the ball forward twice and they scored goals from those two passages. His work off the ball has been sensational this year, especially his pressure around the ground.

Were you at the game yesterday? We had a shocking start to the game in the centre with Biglands, (NOT Clarke) in there. Simmonds started forward on Stevens and was a shocking matchup. Then Simmonds went into the ruck and was beating Biglands comprehensively with his leap, Clarke was interchanged and we started doing better and were getting the taps, but our midfielders were pretty shocking. Who took the ball from the ruck contest in our forward line this week and gave away a free?

Richmond played very well, but to single Clarke out is ridiculous, if Maric was playing yesterday the result would have been so much worse.

In: Porplyzia
Out: S. Stevens

Carlton losing Waite means we can go relatively small in the backlines - no need for wholesale changes
