Its Time For Trigg To Resign.

I think we're asking too much from an organisation that only generates ~$40m in revenue a year.

Disaster if Smart was appointed after Trigg. We really need someone with business acumen at the helm. Chapman's resume speaks for itself but he seems too tied up in the boys club culture.

Agree. We need someone who has the ability to take that to ~$80 million a year in revenue. Not keep the status quo.

I'd love to see a graph of our revenue over the past 10 years and make a direct comparison to Collingwood, West Coast and say Hawthorn.

That's why Trigg has to go, I don't think he can take us any further.

But Whicker stood there like a Cheshire Cat at the unveiling of the jumper at the Adelaide Oval. You think he was unaware of the names on the guernsey? You don't think the AFC gave Leigh a quick squizz before the unveiling? You don't think Leigh might have seen the guensey and said "It looks great guys, but what are all these names doing on here?"
Well if the arrangement has been put in writing, we would know who exactly is responsible for this mess. As it turns out, both parties are conveniently being coy on what was agreed to... which is why you always put any major arrangement in writing!

Even if SANFL still overturned their decision, if AFC had in writing - including the commercial arrangements - then all the blame would have sat with them ... & they may have thought twice about changing their decision. Far easier to back out of a verbal decision!

The reality is we have fallen backwards under the current management - from an AFL powerhouse to middle of the pack.

If only they maintained our status quo ... but Adelaide Oval will fix all ;)

Where is the (best) option for wanting neither Smart or Trigg...

Sure there are plenty of quality CEO candidates outside AFC!
Here is where the problem is that they slotted Smart in there when many much more qualified people applied for the one reason that Smart take over once in job at a agreed time to support the promotion or when gets too hot for Trigg .
Nothing surer than Smart will be our next CEO so as boys club continues and nobody upsets the apple cart.

Adelaide and South Australia simply doesn't have the population nor the corporate dollar to compete with the top bracket of AFL clubs in revenue. Our state is in a huge financial black hole at present with jobs being lost at record levels. AFL clubs reflect their environment. WCE have the financial power of the mines and miners, Collingwood, Essendon and co have a 4 million people population base that consistently expands and NSW and QLD both have huge corporate dollars being pumped through those states. This all relates to the license issue because at present doesn't the SANFL take a decent cut of any profits we make at present? once the license issue is done and dusted and we become a full member controlled club and in control of our own destiny I would imagine the business heavy hitters associated in that boys club will come to the fore!

Leigh has backed away from this a little and is saying whilst he supported it but he was not aware of the crows commercialisation of the jumper and was surprised that it was announced when it was. I don't blame crows for misjudging the sentiment on this one however the act that a complex arrangement such as this was done in conversation when it has many ways of going pair shaped is poor risk management. I agree that the incident is nothing like tippetgate however one of the lessons from it was to follow due process and ensure documentation is in order. Our failure to do this again exposed us to confusion in the public eye. Also smart needed to be prepared for some backlash from port. It was a certainty. If his premeditated plan was to say "I don't are" then he has showed himself to be a arrogant moron lacking any strategic skill. If he was caught off guard and not prepared then that is even worse! He comes out of this looking pretty ordinary IMO

Smart is the guy that did this, right? o_O:

I act as the CEO for an organisation probably 2/3 the size of the Crows.

I would have assumed I would have been fired for a number of things that Trigg has done over the last three years, but not for the fact that a supplier renegs on a public commitment.
What if you didn't give the supplier all the details?

It's not Trigg's fault that the Jumper got the arse. It is his fault that there was no written agreement and for some reason the egg is on our face (why?) when it should really be on the SANFL and AFL.

We've done nothing but are coming off with negative spin. Its bullshit and a strong admin wouldnt have let it stand and called bullshit on the SANFL and AFL and come out of the situatin looking strong. We're just happy to lick arse and bend over under this admin and we've seen it time and time again.

Understand your point but wonder what part makes him even better than teacher.

A . -- Walking on a hot coals burning feet

B. -- Knowledge being a retired footballer living in french countryside.

C -- Failed attempt to be politician

D -- Being head man for charity group due to his football profile.

E -- Or his great effort in front of media and push behind uniform fiasco.

But right he has not cost the club thousands of dollars , tarnished their name badly or lost valuable draft picks etc yet.

F considerable business experience as a sales exec for toyota & Lion Nathan

Smart has a lot more business background than the geography teacher.

Not saying whether its enough but on a like for like basis he's a long way ahead

I like Smart, but it'd be compounding the problem if he got the role after Trigg.

Fresh blood, outside eyes are needed.
