SEASON RATINGS FOR SENIOR PLAYERS (How they've gone so far) - In the style of Sheehan but only for their year so far. 1st and 2nd year players won't be put into this criteria (with one exception).

A GRADE
James Clement - Fantastic, close to top 10 players in the league.
Rhyce Shaw - His improvement has been sensational.
Shane Wakelin - Has had an underated year. Absoloutley underrated, one of the premium defenders in the competition.

TOTAL 3

B GRADE
Alan Didak - Has been troubled by injury but fantastic since coming back, looking forward to him in the midfield.
Brodie Holland - Fantastic in varying roles, both defensive and attacking. Has been a tad inconsistant though, having blinders and then fading out a bit.
Blake Caracella - Has been a great pick up. Another avenue to goal giving us a dangerous forward line. His work in the bottom of the packs is vastly underrated too.
Shane O'Bree - After a pretty average start (still handy but average) to the year he has been very good. Top 5 in tackles in the AFL. Has improved in just about every area.
Scott Burns - Hasn't had a great year and IMO just scrapes in as B Grade. While he hasn't got much of it always plays an important role.
Paul Licuria - Has been a bit down and probably in the same boat as Burns except that he gets alot of the ball but doesn't use it well.
Chris Tarrant - Has had an underated year and has actually shown some leadership around his younger teammates.
Nick Maxwell - Rarely beaten and is very cool in defence. Provides good rebound too.
Travis Cloke - Normally I'd put a player of his age in the youngsters group but he has been absoloutly fantastic. Very important player structually for someone so young.
Simon Prestigiacomo - Has been Simply Simon.

TOTAL - 10

C GRADE
Shane Woewodin - Has been poor, but not 'abysmal' as people would have you think. Injury has hampered him a bit too.
Chad Morrison - This might come as a suprise. Good for depth and to keep out unprepared youngsters out of the side but has only really been good when everyone else has been poor. Probably up there in our best and fairest but probably hit form when we weren't going so well so is having a C GRADE year for mine.
Richard Cole - Disapointing. Had a very good and underated year. It seems as if MM has told him to be more attacking but can't find the line between keeping your opponent quiet and giving important rebound without getting into too much trouble OR letting his oponent get into dangerous spots.
Tarkyn Lockyer - His recent form has been great but has been in line for being dropped for around a month before we hit our form. Signs look good though and seems to be reborn as a back pocket player.
Ben Johnson - Just doesn't seem to have hit his straps yet. Has been there abouts though.
Cameron Cloke - Has been good in a position he isn't really made for. We would like him to be KPP though. Hard to guage where he is at, certainly worth progressing in only his 3rd year of AFL (2nd year of senior football) especially considering he is a big KPP.
Dane Swan - I would put him B grade for the games he has played but was playing for Williamstown for a few weeks. Although it was because of an injury. Has found his place in the squad.

TOTAL 7

D GRADE
Leon Davis - Despite injury, didn't really show what his preseason promised.
Ryan Lonie - Has been crud.
Tristen Walker - Has been disapointing but needs at least one more year IMO.
David King - Overweight and crap.

TOTAL 4

FAILED
Andrew Williams
Matthew Lokan
Jason Cloke
Not more needs to be said about these, although Jason was great against Hamil who is one of the 2 current players he can actually play on (With Fat Lance).

TOTAL 3

THE WOUNDED (Can't analyse due to injury)
Nathan Buckley
Tom Davidson
Guy Richards
Anthony Rocca
Josh Fraser
Brayden Shaw
Zane Leonard (Rookie)

THE YOUNGSTERS (1st year and 2nd year players) Ratings out of 10 for how their progress has been.
Julian Rowe - 6/10. Hasn't exactly established himself but has done some nice things. Has huuuuuuuuuuge potential. Is a very raw player, he can improve on every facet of his game. As the Wiz would say has a big SFI (scope for improvment).
Chris Egan - Is ahead a fair bit in his development. With MM's coaching, and his small frame, he was tipped to play mostly in the VFL. Showing signs of natural ball winning ability of which flashy players like him don't show much of. 7/10
Sean Rusling - Was a smokey pick and a project player as he only played schoolboy footy. Has shown huge potential and by getting a game is again ahead of schedule. 6/10
Billy Morrison - Very disapointing. Would give him another year as he is a big boy and they take a while to come on and he is bottom age for his draft. But still hasn't shown much at all. 2/10.
Travis Cloke - Brilliant, see him in B-grade players. A senior player already. 10/10
Brayden Shaw - Also disapointing, showed a fair bit in VFL last year. Had 2/3 poor games for Willy and got dropped to reserves and was coming back and then got an injury. Hard to guage. 4/10
Adam Iacobucci - Has been good, looks a ready made player, shouldn't of got dropped really after his Freo game. 5/10.
Heath Shaw - Good VFL form but just can't seem to get consistantly good enough to crack it for his AFL debut, shown a fair bit though. 5/10
Brent Hall - Been a mixed bag. Since being promoted to Willy seniors has shown a little including good ground level skills. However the fact taht he has taken a while to be promoted means it has been an average year. Probably in same boat as Billy really except a bit more advanced. 3/10.
Ben Davies (Rookie) - Good enough to get promoted and get a few AFL games. Went alright especially vs. Freo and showed pace, tenacity and good composure in traffic but needs to work on his skills. A bit rough and raw around the edges. Is fighting with Fanning to be promoted. 5/10
Harry O'Brien (Rookie) - The kid from Rio is also a raw player. Has been consistantly great for Willy ressies and has been playing for the seniors for a while. Seems to be going ok but perhaps a little bit too raw. 4/10.
Zane Leonard (Rookie) - He is too injury proned and being an injury proned rookie is the AFL equivalant of a death sentence. Seems to be gone. No rookie can afford to miss the bulk of his 2 years on the rookie list. Could he be delisted and picked up again? RATING N/A
David Fanning (Rookie) - His improvement has been very good. His rucking performances especially against WCE have been admirable. Hard to see whether he'll make it but is giving himself every chance. 6/10.

BEST 22

Emg: S.Woewodin, R.Cole, A.Iacobucci

FWIW I reckon both Burns and Leon should be in C grade.

Apart from that (and to be fair they are both knife edge selections) well done. Nice observation about CMorrison. I hadn't picked that up.

Good Stuff.

A couple problems.

Andrew Williams a FAIL??? He did play 5 games, and they weren't all completely useless. A bit too harsh on him there.

Benny Johnson a C??? Has been much better than a C Grader. Has only had 2 games where he hasn't been up to a B Grade Standard.
Rnd 6 - Played 66 minutes, and had an impact of almost 100 - so might not have been.
Rnd 10 - Kept Quiet, but we won, and he finished with a goal.

He has had 138 Kicks and 187 Disposals (Ave. 21), been pretty good in his 9 Matches.

Great analysis,

Benny Johnson is out link up linchpin and is one of our best kicks to a target.
Would rate him further up.

And my perennial favorite Presty is in my opinion , when in form, ubeatable one on one. In his only defeat M Williams kicked 5 on him and in the game and a half he has missed we totally looked out of it. Freo drubbed us and Gherig kicked a bag on Cloke. Actually JCloke cost us in both instances.

He had a full pre-season this year and we are benefitting from it as a unit.

Oh and give Clement b&F and 2nd all aussie guernsey now

Couldnt be bothered going through the entire list but on a Round 1-11 analysis only four players have performed at consistent A Grade levels

Presti
Wakelin
Clement
Caracella

but there are very few "fails"

Lonie
Lokan
Williams

Best of all there are a few "ahead of schedule"
T Cloke
Egan
Rusling
Fanning

and a few "comeback kings"
Didak
Swan
O'Bree
and best of all R Shaw
