Jack Anthony back this week?

Doubt it, structure at the club comes before form to a degree, so i would think that Wellers and Presti would be the only possible ins and like players would be dropped.
Dawes aint going out yet so Jack may be waiting a while.

Hes an interesting one the Caff, a true utility at either end, ill admit hasnt really impressed me yet but i do see signs that he could be alright.
Still young and inexperienced remember so give him time.
do you think he deserves to be put ahead of jack tho?

He contributes. I don't like his set shot routine.

I think if someone is going to go out, it'll most likely be him.

It's about structure though isn't it. Dawes will stay, Cloke will stay, Medhurst stays. We'll most likely take Jolly and Wood/Fraser. The spot vacated by say Macaffer or O'Bree will be used for midfield rotations which is a huge strength of our.

We would have to change a few things for Jack to come back into the side. We would only ruck with Jolly and rely on Dawes to ruck in the forward line. Trav would have to move further from goal with Jack and Dawes working from the 50.

It disrupts our structure and ATM Dawes is ahead of Jack.

Macaffer has been fairly 'meh' for me this year. However, he plays his role, doesn't make many mistakes and is versatile, so a handy player to have in the side.

If Jack keeps kicking bags in the VFL then eventually I think he should replace Macaffer, just not this week.

I can't see Mick bringing in Jack just yet.

It would mean a significant change to our forward structure which is functioning really well at the moment. Why would we mess with that?

Unless we get an injury or we start to look weak up forward I think we need to stick with what is working

Well here's where is stands;

If Presti returns, Reid or Brown go out, I think that's pretty clear.

If Wellingham returns, O'Bree goes out, I think that's pretty clear.

So for Jack to get a spot in the side, he needs someone else to go out, and the obvious player here is MaCaffer.

So, it comes down to MaCaffer vs Anthony;

MaCaffer; Gives us versatility, and does very little wrong. While he doesn't get a heap of the ball, he can play either a defensive or offensive position, which is so crucial in modern day football.

Anthony; Obviously more "talented" then Caff, but at AFL level, can only play forward (despite playing back in the VFL in past years). Jack is a forward, and a forward only, and MM would have to think we are struggling up forward for Jack to return.

My opinion, not this week, but maybe the next week against the great Geelong backline where we may want to go with 3 tall options to stretch past Taylor and Scarlett.

still theres something about Caff that makes me think that his just not up to the standard of the rest of the team i might be wrong but id prefer Jack a guy we know will produce

Dockers have alot of medium utility types and Caff is good defensively so I think he'll be vital this week.

Out: O'Bree
In: Wellingham

Pretty simple.

Hmmm, an interesting one.

Need to reward good performances at VFL level and also AFL level. O'Bree was dropped went back to VFL and didn't miss a beat, also thought he was good on Sat night.......tough to drop him if that is the case.

JA coming in will depend on structure......Freo dont have a back-up ruck, M.Johnson aint a legit ruck....could we try Jolly head to head with Sandilands???

If we play both Jolly and Wood, we will be too tall and slow for subi if we also include JA.

he has kicked 10 goals in 2 games in the VFL and lets face it the kids far to good for VFL

Definitely agree. He must be close.

On Caff however, he is playing his role IMO and is doing enough to hold his spot.

I don't like his set-shot routine (lacks momentum coming in which is why he shanks a few and barely makes the distance sometimes) but he is physically hardened and is proving to be a real utility with his flexibility. He is keeping Lockyer out of the side with his role.

He must be close.

Going on form he has kicked 9 or 10 goals in the last couple of weeks in the VFL so his form is good enough to warrant a spot - just a matter of who goes out for him and if we want to play 3 talls... as mick says "horses for courses".

I would like to see him come in this week and play as a 3rd tall.

I think we can play a forward setup like this:

HF - Didak Cloke Davis
F - Anthony Dawes Medhurst

In saying that.. if he comes in not too sure who to take out.. obvious choice would be Macaffer I guess.
