Was terrible tonight, he has now been found out by opposition clubs and they have started to pay him some respect as a result he has gone to ****.

He is unable to keep his feet and caused turnovers at crucial times because of it, once it hits the deck he is useless and his contested marks are becoming rarer and rarer. We really need medhurst back or any other small forward because jack is not big enough to play tall and is not quick enough to play small

I don't know but how many times have you seen a FF play as a HFF?

Jack is a FF- plain and simple. Why he is being played on flank is beyond me. Just look at Fev, he was shithouse all night and continued to stay deep in attack because that's where he is best suited. In the end, he got them over the line with a couple of miracle goals.

Time for Jack to play closer to goal or any of our key forwards to play closer to goal for that matter, rather than have them up and beyond the 50m arc where their "damage" is useless.

The last two weeks, our structures and set-ups have been disgusting. Small forwards playing as key forwards, key forwards playing as HFF/wingman, midfielders playing as small forwards etc.

That may be true, but being played on a flank doesn't make him physically weaker or softer.

He didn't show the hardness in a contest that he showed last year. Playing in a different position shouldn't change that.

Agree with this. I have no idea what the coaches are thinking. We have 3 tall forwards and they play them ALL up the ground? For a coach who is often hailed as having a brilliant tactical mind Malthouse makes some incomprehensible decisions.

I agree with all of your points there mate, he should be playing deep, much deeper than what he was tonight.

Doesnt take away from how disappointing he was tonight. Dropped some he shouldve taken, didnt do enough around the ground. But i think the most important thing here is that without medders as that extra med/small forward, the forwardline just wont function.

I must agree he needs to play FF that's it

Still the delivery was a joke

Yea he was kinda poor but our delivery into the F50 was crap. The forward line just didn't get a chance in that 2nd half. When has Staker ever got so many marks? Where was Barry Hall when we needed him?

I feel for JA because there was no doubt he was trying, but the dude made Staker look like a superstar unfortunately. Had he been paid his mark 20m out, we would probably have been toasting him anyway. :(

It's just one of those games where you walk away and say;
a) we need to become a team who doesn't have those lapses in performance, and
b) thank **** I didn't put money on that game after backing Port last week.

He's still got no clue.
first- comes eyes for the ball.
second- mark, not look at the ****ing opponent.

That mark he dropped in the 3rd qtr was frustrating. From the dropped mark, Fev got that cheap, easy, mark and goal to kick start his night. 1 minute later he kicks another one, FFS. Fev goes on to kick 4, and the game is history.

It's amazing what one bit of play can do.

If Jack Anthony was going to play, then he had to played at full forward because he isn't really suited to anywhere else in the forward libe. He was poor though, but unfortunately he was probably slightly better than Chris Dawes.

im a big fan of JA... but seriously, dawes was much better.. its just a shame that jack didnt get paid a mark that was clearly there..

This is it in a nutshell. JA is simply not big enough and doesn't provide a big enough contest to play FF and once it hits the deck he lacks the mobility to win the ball.

MM tried to play him as a third tall tonight and he was chopped up.

I don't see him fitting into our best 22.

It was clearly there in a slow motion replay, but you can't blame an umpire for thinking that it was touched.

i saw it and called it straight away - i also rewound it to show my brisbane loving brother in law how right i was... maybe its much easier from an armchair, but when the forward marking jumps a foot higher and is in a better position he should be given benefit of the doubt.. but youre right, we cant blame the umpires for the pathetic effort the boys put in tonight..

Staker played on Dawes, Maguire played on JA

Yes, but isn't Buckley the forwards coach ?

What? Even the Lions players stopped and knew it was a mark.

Yep it's back to school in the magoos for Jack for a few weeks, or maybe forever. Needs to improve a hell of a lot and i doubt he has it in him, but here's hoping.

Anyway good solid VFL player....

I'm getting a bit sick of this call that "Buckley is the forward coach". Yes he is but I can't remember other fwd coaches under Malty's reign getting questioned when our Fwd line hasn't worked.

Also wouldn't Bucks just be trying implement Mick's fwd game plan?

Its funny as well that people say that Bucks should be coaching the mids... if its MM games plan whats the difference where Bucks coaches

The mark he 'dropped' on the flank, that resulted in turnover and goal to Fevola was the biggest arm chop I've ever seen not paid. It wasn't even possible for the player to effect a legal spoil from where he was and he smashed his elbow to give away a professional free kick, problem is, the umpire didn't pay it

I'm no more sick of Bucks being lauded as the reason the team's scoring well when we win. The truth is that both Bucks and Mick share responsibility, win or lose, good performance or bad by our forwards. However it's an area in which everyone's agenda comes to the forefront in analysing games after the fact.

I'm sure MM asks his forwards to chase and pressure defenders. Anthony looked lazy last night and slow. He tried a bit harder in the second half...Medhurst and Davis are very good at keeping the ball in our fwd 50 and they assist in other forwards kicking goals even if they don't.
