Past Jack Crisp (2011-2014)

The kids only 20 and about to turn 21. For what he has shown for his age I'm happy, especially when you factor that he was a rookie pick. Hopefully has another two good games to finish off to solidify his spot in the top 22. That confidence to help drive a big pre-season with some added time through the middle.

He's got the Robert Harvey look about him.

Sad to see Crisp depart and am really hoping that this is one that doesn't come back to bite us because I really think the lad can play.

Actually, I'm surprised that no-one else has made any comment at all , especially as we (apparently) had a two year contract on the table for him to sign just before he became the last ingredient in the Beams trade.

Many (Lions and Pies supporters alike)seem to be treating him as the "steak knives" in the deal.

I wouldn't be totally shocked however, if he turns out to be the the silverware.

yeah horrible im a bit devastated the club did bow and trade him out

Yes sad to see Jack go. I remember seeing him in a practice match at princes park. Must have been his First year as a rookie. I was really impressed with attack at the contest. He always gave all he could for the club and I wish him all the best in the future.

I think it's more the case that most of us want to keep Beams trade as positive. I agree that Crisp has huge upside, and if he can tidy up his kicking, he will be a real goal scoring weapon. I think he'll be in Collingwood's best 22 at the start of next season, and stay in the team most of the season.

I wish him all the best, and hope he fulfils all his potential.

Crisp gets his wish

Amidst the excitement surrounding Dayne Beams’ recruitment to the Brisbane Lions, there is a tinge of sadness among fans following Jack Crisp’s subsequent departure to Collingwood. Crisp was ultimately the final piece in the drawn-out trade puzzle that saw the Lions land former Collingwood best and fairest, Beams.

The Myrtleford product had actually been weighing up his AFL future after reaching the end of his playing contract with the Lions, and had received plenty of interest from rival clubs from his home state of Victoria. In the end, his decision to seek a fresh start meant that the Lions could achieve a favourable outcome for all parties.

“Jack indicated to us that his preference was to return to Victoria if something could be done,” Talent Acquisition and Retention Manager Peter Schwab told lions.com.au. “The Beams deal eventually enabled us to not only secure Dayne, but also provide Jack with that opportunity to return home.” Even though he will now don the black and white, Crisp will forever hold a special place at the Lions. Crisp departs having played more games in the Number 47 guernsey (12) than any other player in the Club’s combined 128-year history (Fitzroy and Bears included).

Definitely a sense of sadness at Jack's departure from the Lions, although you can't help but wish him all the very best with his AFL career.

Reckon there was probably a bit of writing on the wall for him with Beams and Christensen coming in and the crop of young mids we have. Really would have struggled to break in I suspect.

His manager said the Pies guaranteed him much more senior footy - good deal for everyone involved.

I believe they gave him the same speech they gave Karnezis

to be honest it was a bit disapointing listening to his managers interview, where he said the lions didnt give him enough of an opportunity and he had to get out, he got games at the end of the year and he did well, it wasnt like he ws setting the world on fire in a high class competition tht he had to be selected, players need to bide their time

JACK Crisp was having a beer at the local footy pavilion in Myrtleford, celebrating his 21st birthday, when a couple of mates scrambled over with mobile phones in their hands. “There was an article on their Facebook about me possibly being traded to Collingwood,’’ Crisp said. “So I thought, ‘What’s going on here?’. “I was a bit shocked, but I didn’t stew on it too much because I was having a great night getting around the room catching up with everybody.’’ When he woke up last Sunday, Crisp — feeling anything but — rang his manager Anthony McDonald, who told him he was in the frame to be part of a complicated multi-club deal that would deliver Magpies midfielder Dayne Beams to the Brisbane Lions.

But, coming out of contract, he was disappointed that the Lions were slow to offer him a two-year extension and asked McDonald to “explore any opportunities down south’’.

JACK Crisp was about to celebrate his 21st birthday at his home-town football club in Myrtleford in north-east Victoria when his friends began to tell him Collingwood was interested in recruiting him. He played 18 games with the Lions in three seasons, including good performances in the final six games of 2014 when he kicked six goals and proved to himself and others he could compete at the highest level.

“’Leppa’ (Lions coach Justin Leppitsch) finally gave me a go in round 18 and I just took it. The way I played, I was pretty happy with it. It sparked a bit more interest in me and made me feel pretty good about myself," he said. Crisp felt no pressure to come home but saw opportunities at Collingwood and was open to the idea of being back in Victoria if the chance arose. He'd been comfortable in Brisbane and with five aunties in Queensland, was not too far from a home-cooked meal if he wanted one.

They're an odd bunch over at Collingwood...Jack may just fit it in - link

Unbelievable how often the footy media just steps up to give Collingwood free promotion like this.

BREAKING NEWS: Pies post video on their youtube channel.

It's not so much unbelievable, as what we should expect from a commercial media enterprise seeking to exploit a significant and easily identifiable target market.

Collingwood recruit being probed over bet made last season

Collingwood recruit Jack Crisp is being investigated by the AFL for a bet made early last season when he was a Brisbane Lions player.

The AFL's integrity unit is investigating what Collingwood described as "betting behaviour by Jack"' when the midfielder was playing for the Lions.

Fairfax Media can also reveal that Crisp's bet was made early in the 2014 season, and sources suggest that the amount of the wager or wagers was under $150 and that it involved AFL and other sports – such as in a multi-bet.

Collingwood's Crisp fined over footy bet

COLLINGWOOD recruit Jack Crisp has avoided a suspension but has been fined for betting on an AFL market while he was at the Brisbane Lions.

The AFL announced on Monday afternoon that Crisp had been fined $5,000.

However, the League said the young midfielder would not be hit with a playing suspension due to his co-operation and contrition in dealing with the matter.
