He's got the frame and pretty boy face to be an absolute gun footy player and marketing dream for the Eagles but for every piece of gold he produces there's an equally stinky nugget of shit. I remember in his first few seasons he would take a strong pack mark and the commentators would talk him up as the next Wayne Carey then he'd kick it out on the full. Too many incidents like that in the last few seasons in my opinion. Id trade him. He's Jason Ball 2.0. He is for sure over sexxed in my imagination with his giant white hog just running around Perth night clubs swinging that thing around like fat rubbery police baton. Maybe a slow down of the pussy chasing and ninja training and more time with a kicking coach and he will do well at another club.

The AFL Commissioner Jason Ball ?
Sydney Swans premiership?

Darling has pulled out twice now when he had to go. He can blame the sun and lights all he likes but the fact is that he dropped a sitter on grand final day last year when he took the eyes off the task at hand and he did the same thing against the Dogs going back with the flight of the ball.

Contrast that with Clay Smith's attack on the footy in the air in the same game, running back into the unknown and then jumping into oncoming players trying to mark the ball. Somehow the umpires decided it was a free kick to West Coast but Smith never flinched and that's what finals footy is about.

Joe's graph is on the rise while Darling has stagnated. Daniher kicked 43 goals in a team decimated due to the suspensions where he was their only real forward option, if he improves his kicking a bit he could kick 55+ next year. I wouldn't be complaining if my team had Joe Daniher, he is up there with Hogan as a player of the future.

Darling has the dual Coleman medalist as the main forward line target, Daniher has who exactly?

As the second tall Darling is getting a constant 40 goals a year, there's few AFL teams that have that. Heck his 40 odd was more than some teams got from their first forward this year.

Don't worry, freo1 will table the stats ..... ;)
Stats wont show you missing sitters from in front of goal unfortunately. Hey I think Lecras is a good player, but there's a very real misconception that he's always been an accurate kick. He had about 1 good year but since misses sitters, as does Chris Maye

Lecras was a dead eye till he broke his arm - shit ordinary since then

So a comparison of where Darling's 44 goals would sit per team

Adelaide 4th (Betts 72, Jenkins 62, Walker 45)
Brisbane 1st (Walker/Zorko next best at 23)
Carlton 1st (Wright 22)
Collingwood 1st (Fasolo 25)
Essendon 1st (Daniher 43)
Fremantle 1st (Walters 36)
Geelong 2nd (Hawkins 54)
Gold Coast 2nd (Lynch 66)
GWS 2nd (Cameron 53)
Hawthorn 4th (Gunston 50, Breust 46, Rioli 46)
Melbourne 1st (Hogan 41)
North Melbourne 1st (Brown 41)
Port 1st (Wingard 38)
Richmond 2nd (Riewoldt 48)
St Kilda equal 1st (Membrey 44)
Sydney 2nd (Franklin 74)
Western Bulldogs 1st (Stringer 38)

So if he had his 44 at any other team it would be
1st in 10/17
2nd in 5/17
4th in 2/17

The guy is getting way more hate then he deserves for putting up consistent scoring as a secondary forward.

Yep, P155 & wind .... wind from the Khyber !!!

Joe has no one, thats the point, he is getting the top defender each week. I don't think Darling could kick 40 at Essendon whereas I reckon Daniher would've kicked more than 45 at WCE if they switched.

Darling kicked 53 the year Kennedy was injured and had to lead the forward line by himself.

BTW he was also 19 and in his second year.

Um yeh keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep etc. Nice player Jack at times but the squibbing in big games is starting to look habitual. Hardly makes those around him stand taller. Dunkley is a good kid and is hard enough as time will show & wasn't going to impact the contest anyway. Saying he pulled out is pretty classic deflecting of the question.

Trade him while he still has (some) currency.
would fit in well at tiger land ehy

I reckon there is hope with Darling. Has rightly been labelled as soft but he could turn it around.

But Lecras is cooked. Surprised he wasn't cut with the other 6.

we aren't North to cut favourite sons. His contracted next year but after our disappointing 2016, i won't be surprised if he plays WAFL for the majority of next season.

How about if you got a cooked Drew Petrie?

I really want this to go away. I get the logic in getting him as a 12 month ruck insurance policy but he genuinely looks cooked. And hasn't rucked more than a couple of minutes foryears.

We already have a young Fraser McInnes as an undersized dud ruckman option, and Paul Johnson still runs around for East Perth usually getting more hitouts than Giles etc. Just pick him up.

I thought Johnson announced his retirement when East Perth played their last game of the season?

Jack is doubting himself and second guessing in big games at the moment. All to do with lack of confidence. As he's only 24 he just needs to get hs confidence back and he will be right. He just needs to take the pressure off himself.

We will never know though will we as its only conjecture on your part! Live in your little dream world if it makes you happy.
