Pretty ordinary again tonight when his team needed him. Was like a deer in the headlights again early setting the tone in that first quarter. 2 simple dropped chest marks that could of been goals which would of settled the eagles down , then nearly missed his foot when given yet another Joe the Goose in the square. Eagles Wouldn’t of fallen so far behind and when they did hit their straps instead of drawing level , they may have had a match winning lead.

Oh well until next year. Can’t wait to see him beat up on ordinary teams again. Will miss it over summer
Came good when it mattered in last years GF.(When it really matters)
Doubt he'll lose any sleep over last night performance.

66 goals in a 22 game season is three goals a game.

How many players have done that over the last 5 years while playing 20+ games?

JK x2, buddy x2, Eddie betts, Tom Lynch, Jeremy Cameron.

So not many will kick 65-75 goals in a season. Happily given the additional fire power we’ve found (Ryan, Rioli, Allen, Cameron, Cripps, Petch) we won’t need him to as we can spread it around a bit more

Had a good season, All Australian for the first time, may have possibly overtaken Kennedy for next year.

Certainly not the reason we failed to make it B2B.

Don't understand how this is still a discussion tbh.

So you are struggling with the idea of spectating next week?? Will just belike Rioli for next 4 years.

Not particularly, but if I do, I trust Melbourne fans will have plenty of advice of how to pass the time with no team playing in September.

A lot might change in four years though, your fans might have voted to give up and merge your club again. But Rioli will still be a premiership player, unlike anyone from Melbourne in the last 50 years.

But Rioli will still be a premiership player
yeah with a big fat asterisk next to his name

Darling wasn't the reason the eagles lost last night (der) and has had a very good season, interesting to see how he backs it up next year. I've always held the belief he is overrated due to Kennedy getting all the big name 1 on 1 defenders however with Kennedy slowing down next year i will be watching with keen eyes.

I'd still take him to the Dees in a heartbeat, or even better, West Perth :$

Great season by Jack, really stepped up to take control of our forward line. Most goals in a season for him, stood up on a lot of occasions. Well deserved All Australian.

Good effort to get 3 goals today against a very good defence with little support.

Hopefully continues on with it next year. Another 55 goal season will be critical with JJK near the end.
He's also become a really reliable kick at goal. 59.18 is excellent going for a CHF.

For mine, The most impressive thing is how durable he is. Clubs are constantly struggling to keep their tall forwards fit and available (Dixon, Kennedy, Hogan, Franklin, Patton etc) and Darling has played 91 games in the past 4 years. 28 next year so right in his peak as well.

18 clubs would kill for him. Silly thread.

Just remember, as bad as you perceive Darling to be he out performed all your key forwards combined respectively this year :p
That’s actually beautiful

This argument is invalid as Darling's goal tally includes goals kicked in finals, clearly an unfair handicap for Melbourne and Fremantle players.

Started shockingly with some blunders but not even that or the demons of yesteryear could stop the big man mountain from having a telling influence. 3 goals got the Eagles back into the contest. All-Australian year but that won't stop some scarred fragile posters who still haven't gotten over last years poleaxing.

I used to be his biggest critic. But now I'm one of his biggest fans. Outstanding player.

This thread keeps getting bumped by that salty dees supporter whose still pissy we wrecked them last year.

I'd be salty too if my team went to play an away game and never came back.

Let it go, it was 2018 that we smashed and shattered your team....let it go.
