I think he will end up like chad cornes who was better dominating through the middle than with specialist defenders
For sure, he has already spent a lot more time in the middle this year and I expect that to continue. Like Chad Jones, I think that is more a reflection of his ability in the midfield than his inability in the forward line.

He only just turned 22 last week. He's still 4 years of coming close to his peak. He's been performing at an incredibly high level since he debuted, this last few weeks have been his worst patch of form in that time. Considering he's playing a new role and running a lot more I doubt he'll kick as many goals over the past few seasons. A Gun player.

yep, agree

All players have their ups and downs. He has already shown, like Fyfe, they have far greater value than the selection they were taken at.

I've heard Freo are in his ear about coming over to the purple side. I'd love to have him and with some decent delivery into the forward 50 he would lift his game. He's being delivered by the crappest midfield in the AFL so we can hardly blame his for his poor form so far this year.

Rotating Fyfe and Darling through the midfield and resting forward would be a tough match up for most clubs

It's true we have a crappy midfield. Darling will never join the Dockers though - you had that chance and you blew it.

Lucky he re-signed late last year.

Is Fremantle getting new mids as well? :p

Freomaniac, how does your judgement fall on Chris Mayne who has only kicked 4 goals this season, is averaging under 5 kicks per game, taking mostly uncontested possessions, and behind Darling in average disposals, marks, tackles and inside fifties? I will also add that last year, he only kicked more than two goals in a single game against Richmond, Essendon and West Coast. Note: I rate Mayne because of the defensive side of his game.

Yeah well I wanted to reply on here but I got the ban for a week. I replied on your wall so I will say the similar answer on here...

I dont know if Mayne was carrying an Injury in the 1st few weeks of the season. I have heard he had a bad preseason. He has had a good 2 games against richmond and Brisbane.

He could of Kicked a goal 20 metres out directly in front vs the Tigers but he did the team thing and gave Ballantyne 1 of his 6 eventual goals. I still remember his Goal kicking stats. Kicked 24 goals and 1 behind with his 1st 25 set shots in 2012. He eventually ended up kicking 39 goals and 7 behinds in 2012. In 2013 he kicked 37 goals and 12 behinds. He has only kicked 6 goals and 8 behinds this season sadly. Yeah I dont minds Maynes defensive work. But its Part of the Ross Lyon game plan. Coincidentally Chris Maynes best yeard have been the ones under Ross Lyon as well.

Love Darling, but would swap him for a gun mid right now.

You probably could afford to with Kennedy and not McGovern developing now.

Good quality sides, also in big matches. He needs to step up now if the Eagles are a chance of playing in September and so do a couple of others.

My thoughts exactly...

Lol. Welcome to 2013, you're the last one here.

Signed on for four years at the beginning of this year.

Have they?

He signed an extension last season. The source for it being two years is the west, not the club.
Well given west coast didn't divulge last time how long his contract was for and apparently now (albeit the west) they are negotiating again I'd say that using Occam's razor says that he only signed for two years.... and therefore as per my initial comment I have heard that freo has been in his ear.

May not come to anything but if true explains why west coast may be negotiating early.

Are they, has the club confirmed they are negotiating early?

When he signed there were sources saying it was for four years. I forgot it was (reportedly) two.

He's not going to Freo regardless.
Agreed. Just like Fyfe is zero chance of going to West Coast. Not sure why fans of both sides think these trades would ever be on the cards anymore. 3-4 years playing Derby's is enough to put any player off ever joining the enemy.

Thats fine with me...

He sadly didnt do too much vs the swans today. Again it proved he is a flat track bully. Does well against the bottom 6 clubs, struggle against the top 6 clubs.

Well, hardly thoughts to be proud of, or worth advertising.
your right again as usual...
