Lecras has lost his pace. He lost roughly 5 metres on his kicking penetration when he did his knee and has lost another couple of metres in the last couple of years as well. Makes it a huge struggle for him to kick them from anymore than 40 metres out as he can't just kick through the line of the ball like he used to and he's no longer faster than the defenders he plays on or even the average midfielder. A great servant of the club but the game is going past him quickly.

Sad to see. He was a star.

West coast list is in a terrible place. Littered with solid players who are great front runners but who never impact on big games when the chips are down - Wellingham yeo darling shuey Lycett Cripps gaff masten etc. The punt on drafting in experienced players to top up has failed miserably, as Jetta and redden have both been compete busts. Priddis is nearing the end, and there's a very strong argument that Le crash is already there. They've alienated Mackenzie who is leaving, Mitch brown could be on the same flight and Naitanui won't be seen next year . They came from nowhere in 2015 and are set to fade back into the pack just as quickly

And yet the Collingwood list is where in comparison.

Eagles need to add three bigger bodied mids / half forward's who have some mongrel in them and that's about it.

Collingwood are chasing Del Santo, Ivan Maric and Mayne from Freo.o_O:huh::straining::D

That's just priceless.:thumbsu:

Almost as priceless as someone who believes rumours.

Wat? It's not really a tandem when one guy kicks twice as many goals as the other.

The way Darling (50+ goalkicker in the past) and LeCras (60+) have performed lately our forward line would fall apart without Kennedy.

Betts isn't a key forward, but 146 goals from two former Carlton players in a H&A season has got to be some kind of record.

Neither is Darling to be fair.

He looks like one but plays like a squib.

I reckon the game was already over everyone knew it. Pulled out of the contest, fair call I think. If the game was close I'm sure he would have launched at it.

Doesn't matter that the game was over. You'd never see Nroo or Jono Brown shirk a potential contest like that. He will cop as much stick about that squib as his dropped mark in last years GF. That's not good for someone's confidence going forward, and it's becoming a trend that he has these big fails in crucial games.

He can either look at the replays and use it as motivation over the summer to turn into a beast, or let it define his career at a young age. The onus is still on him to get redemption, but it's not looking good for him.

Can't forget as well that in Lecras' best goalkicking years in 2009 and 2010, the Eagles were garbage, and he was being used as the main focal point while Kennedy was still developing (and Ben McKinley was their third-leading goalkicker across these two seasons ). Obviously he's lost a step and isn't quite what he once was (and at 30 years old, probably won't be again), but having a lot less ball directed to him and not having to be the primary forward will have affected his output too.

He's been a great player in the past but I have seen 5 or 6 Eagles games this year and he has had close to zero impact in any of them. Yes, his kicking looks soft and loopy, his pace and ability to change direction are well off hgis peak. But why are Eagles continuing to play him, particularly against a smallish fast defence like the Doggies.

All that being said, he still kicked 38 goals this year, and assisted on 18 more, which is a pretty handy return.

I think it's like a lot of teams though with ageing or flawed players - the potential replacement is either unknown or not on the list yet. If they genuinely had someone better available, or with scope to be better, they'd have already replaced him I imagine.

Interesting times for the Eagles..... Jack's a good player but has only really had 1 final that he has performed really well in and that was a 100 point smashing of Norf 3 years ago, the Eagles brass will be asking themselves if he's what they really need if they truly believe a flag is really within their grasp. On the flipside what would he command in a trade? Hard to say but speculative around the pick 10 to 12 seems fair but the Eagles dont need picks they need hard nosed inside players with NicNat out for 12 - 18 months as getting their hands on the ball will be a priority now that the silver service will stop and Priddis is closer to the end.

Squib or no Squib, Darling is a decent 2nd string forward, the perfect trade would be him for JaegerBomb who comes with risks but would give them an extra bull around the contest(assuming knees are ok) but by the sounds of it he has his heart set on the wonderful weather in Melbourne..... I can't see the Eagles getting the right compo in a trade scenario, not necessarily the right value, more the right type of player they need(without throwing in steak knives), so with that said I can't see a logical reason to why they would pull the trigger as another 40 to 50 goals will come from him again next year, but expect another fade on the big stage.
