Can we just give this guy a ****ing chance without bagging him at every opportunity? He played well today. He hasn’t had a chance to show anything since coming over due to injury. Has hardly played a game without some adversity. Today was his 6th full game for the club. Perhaps just let him settle in a little bit to see how he adjusts to the team and game plan.

I think Chow said it, running hard like Nick Riewoldt or Jeremy Cameron. Working his butt off to get a whole heap of uncontested marks and then unleashing into the forward line.

I could see Lukosius with a huge tank being AA because his kicking is borderline majestic.

I thought he was probably in our best 5 or 6 players on the ground. Was a great game from him.

This is what he is, a finisher or the icing for us. Those shots that Dixon, Powell Pepper, Finlayson etc always missed at the end of chains is what Luko should make.

Campo said it during the match and actually said a lot of great things, so good in fact that I'd have him as a defensive coach, that Lukosius is a great kick but just needs to find the ball more.

During the game, he was playing out of the square and I thought he had no chance.

That kick to the Hornet where he ran on to kick his third was pretty awesome.

And that’s it, Luko’s goal kicking, and field kicking is what makes him dangerous. He just has to build a game around that.

Many of teams have won flags from just being able to kick straight. Dunno what Georgi was doing, but I liked Hornet and Luko just slotting em this week.

That was a good game from Luko and some here are starting to realise what an asset he can be.

He is a lead up CHF with a devastating kick. Players like him are not plug and play- they excel when teammates start to recognise his leading pattern and he starts to recognise where those up field tend to want him to lead to. It won't take so long for those on the end of his kicks to work out his range and position themselves accordingly.

So with time, he will just get better and better. If he could add some contested marking or at least improve his ability to bring the ball to ground, we will have a complete player.

Essendon had one of the worst rated defensive pressure gamse since they started keeping that stat. Now I'll admit I'm a bit dubious on the 'pressure-meter' but it matched the eye-test yesterday. So that was exactly the kind of game I'd expect Luko to thrive in. Lets see him do it in a game with actual stakes in a high-pressure environment.

A case of all of the above posts/opinions can be true.
Yep. Being positive about a strong performance, albeit against a shit side, is fine.

But so is wanting to see him do it more regularly and against stronger teams.

I would say that we don’t have a large enough sample size to make any definitive call on him, given that he has barely played for us.

What he can do well should be of value against all sides, provided that he also competes hard when he has to. Playing from in front, bringing the ball to ground when caught out of position, chasing, harrassing, tackling should be the bare minimum.

The next step comes down to work rate. Lukosius wins a lot of free ball and it makes him look like an uncontested forward. Against sides like Essendon, some of that may be down to weak defending. But against better sides, there is no reason he can't win uncontested ball by outworking his opponent and presenting up to the ball carrier.

No-one expects him to be our best forward, but he should be able to average 5-6 marks (e.g., through leading or finding space), 12 possessions and 2-3 shots on goal per game even against better sides.

Hope he can string many games together so we can really see what he can bring to the side. Liked his game against Essendon and hopefully he builds from that.
