Every game this year whenever Jack has been out on a one ( not a marking contest ) on one instead of just attacking the ball and trying to gain possession to dish it off he try's to hold off his opponent or try some over clever trick to get the ball. He has done it every game this year on numerous occasions. Keep it bloody simple mate and feed it out.

Jack just attack the bloody ball like every other good forward.

I'm not following what you mean. He has 15 goals and numerous goal assists.
No need to change.

I get what the OP is saying. When ball is on the deck he tries to be clever and invent something eg tunnel through legs, tap across etc rather than grabbing the ball and taking the tackle while trying to handball to our advantage. It's a bit like Edwards handballing over his head. Great when it works but is a straight out turnover, against Pies, a goal, when it doesn't.

Know exactly what you mean, annoys the hell out of me.

We have a few who pull that shit, unfortunately they don't seemed to have worked out that one of the tricks to pulling tricks is actually being aware where your opponents and teammates are first.

Expecting Jared Rivers to cry when Geelong play Melbourne.
He could of been a part of that 12 goal quarter.

LOL thats what makes Jack the player he is ------- Unpredictability

He can do anything anytime and his opponent is always second guessing him and in 2 minds

It actually works in his favour to do these tricks

Yeh, lots of LOLs when it creates a goal at the other end instead of being held inside our 50.

It actually works in his favour? How? He never takes possession, the tricks rarely work and his team mates can't read his mind.

FFS.. Sick of shit threads like this.. What a crock..

It's not the end of the world Wang, just a technical observation. Happens about once or twice a game, is not a big knock (from me) on JR. Just a low percentage thing he does.

I have seen many instances where jack has fiddled with the ball on the ground then hit it out under his legs to team mates that actually get goals or where he does the wierd things near the boundry line and gets the ball past his opponent then collects and kicks goals.

Rarely have i seen it actually cost us a goal

So you have never noticed it before and asked yourself why when it doesn't come off?

Well I have , other people on the board have and people that I have sat near have. So unless you haven't seen a game live or on TV and have only listen to every match on the radio or you are legally blind I have know idea what your talking about.

No you are searching for negatives.. But hey whatever floats your boat dude..

I was going to post a rebuttal to many of the posts in here, but **** it. If Dimma can publicly praise Jack and his current playing style (Dimma WANTS him to play this way), then why would anything I have to say make a difference? Jack is obviously doing the right thing and people that know about football won't have a problem with how he's playing

Agree close the thread what a load of Shite....Every other club would love Jack & what he creates in our forward line.

Why do people react so hysterically to a simple discussion around a minor facet of Jack's play?
This is Big Footy, we talk about all things footy. This is one simple area of technique that has caught the attention of a few people.
Take a look at Dimmas dissection each week mate, you'll see a series of incredibly minor pieces of play that the coaching staff focus on and try to fix. This may or may not be similar.

We love Jack and what he creates. FFS do we need that disclaimer at the start before we discuss anything?

You love Jack & what he creates but you are happy to bag him for doing so!!! Which is it mate? You having a bit each way it seems to me.

Yes I am having a bit each way, actually a tiny bit negative and overall highly positive.
Dusty Cotch.... well I love Dusty too, but there are a couple of things that caught my eye with his game...and Cotch is just a gem but did you notice anything...nah, forget it.
Nobody's perfect.

Ummm....I think you are missing the entire point. Jack is great and yes every club would love. He is one of the best pack marks in the comp. Nobody said we didn't want him or that he doesn't create in our forward line. The only question is how he handles a one on one in a loose ball situation. You have contributed nothing . Pretty funny how some people get so defensive.

This board is for Richmond lovers and there will always be positives and there will always be negatives. No need to slag everything you don't agree with. Grow up champ or at least bring some fact to the discussion.
