Hopper steak knives haha. He will cost Carlton their first round pick and if you're not prepared to offer that your not in the conversation. I hope he stays at GWS but supporters from Victorian clubs are in for a rude shock if they think these star players from Northern clubs will cost them little.
Hopper ain't worth anything like pick two on the form he's shown so far this year.

Maybe Carlton's 2018 first.

I noticed you left off Prestia who cost Richmond pick 6 and O'Meara who cost Hawthorn pick 10 and more. Mitchell went to Hawks for pick 14. Ahern - Pickett - McKenna - how do they fall into the category? if Schache and Hopper etc were to leave then expect their respective clubs to be asking for a top ten pick.
Because I was only listing players that have gone cheaply? Of course there are examples of both. Ahern, Pickett and McKenna were all high picks that went very cheaply not long after being drafted.
I'm with you that Hopper will not be a "steak knives" deal but the way things currently are your footballing heartland states still regularly can clearly still get highly rated/formerly high draft picks cheaply.

There's obviously a first rounder there
It would be interesting to see what would happen if he chose to leave and it was Carlton. Who I believe would be an excellent fit.

Pick 2 is too much by a fair bit and their 2nd isn't enough by a fair bit.

If a player is serious and keen about remaining with a team, one would think contractual issues would be settle early in the year.
All the posturing about is to secure the best next pay packet.
Or we wanted to put away three guys on rookie contracts that have delivered their end if the bargain. They deserved a payrise and the sooner the better, unlikely to have the impact on our cap that Hopper will.

If they have him over the line, they should let Gibbs go and then use the first rounder they may get from Adelaide.

Plus we've already traded our 2017 second round pick to Geelong. It'd take some working out but the clubs would get a deal done if he nominated us.

Well from my perspective he can go. He is going to fall behind Taranto and Setterfield and our guts is pretty solid.

We picked him with an early selection and Leon kept playing him last year even when he wasn't contributing that much. He's a bull at the contest but lacks agility so will have to become an elite user to be an A grader.

Just for clarity, it was this:

Squiggle has our second at 31 (606 points), so it roughly equates to Prestia for Pick 8.

Although, we did use 24 for Caddy, so 6 + ~31 for the two and a pick upgrade.

Disclaimer: I know it doesn't work this way in the real world.

I already have.

Stay on topic without playing the man.
My comment has been on topic due to your overly aggressive nature in responding to comments about Hopper. Talking to you as an individual is not playing the man.

You haven't answered my question otherwise I wouldn't need to ask. If I called you a name then tell me what I called you so I can apologise. If I didn't call you a name then at least have the integrity to admit that you were wrong and do the same.

Keep in mind that you ridiculed my contribution, you suggested I piss off and you questioned my integrity.

I disagreed with your opinion, its a public board it happens.

Let your lack of integrity be seen by all.

I would happily throw our first round in for Hopper tbh, a contested bull to match with Brodie in the guts. Our future midfield would have a nice hard edge to it, something we have been missing.

Though, all fanciful, can't see him coming north.

Simple, ... 2018 Second round pick in the Superdraft:cool:

Only for people to call it "shallow" draft as we get closer and say "but but but 2019 is super mega brilliant draft":rolleyes:

What would you offer him to move North? The money for some recently drafted kids seems OTT but perhaps thats what you need to do to turn his head.

Agree that 2 is definitely too much for Hopper if he goes down the carlton road but 2 for Hopper and kennedy could be a possibility. I wouldnt be unhappy with that if i was a carlton fan

It would depend on what others are offering him, to see what his market value is, but I would offer 400-500k, our offer would be more the fact he is going to be guaranteed first team footy, but who knows how much others would offer him.

I think you would have to go a fraction heavier than that.. to convince him to go North. Just what would he be worth though? It would probably equate to GWS going very hard at Scully before he really had done much.

Really hope Essendon are into him.
I imagine we would be. Everyone in this thread is talking Carlton, but Essendon deserve to be seen as an attractive landing spot for FAs and wantaway young players. We also have a team with a lot of good young players, but we have a state of the art new base in Tullamarine, we play in front of big crowds and with many of our old guard closing in on retirement, we'll still have plenty of money to secure the right players as well. Plus we haven't done any deals involving draft picks so we also have the trade currency to get things done.

Hopper would be the perfect fit for us to replace Watson so certainly hope we make a good pitch.
