It's 5 letters. How is it so hard to get right?…so you honestly believe that Sheil is worth Gresham and Pick 13?

Gresham is going to Carlton - lock it in
But you’re missing a step here. Is Gresham worth Band 1 compo?…so you honestly believe that Sheil is worth Gresham and Pick 13?
It just doesn't make sense. Why would we gift a first rounder for him? Why not just trade the band 3 compo for Shiel?Nearly a week and St Kilda fans still banging on about 13 for Shiel. There's been so many explanations that if it hasn't sunk in yet, I don't think it will.
St Kilda is about to put pen to paper with Zac Jones. There is no way they then take on the risk with Dylan Shiel unless there is some tangible benefit. They are like for like, with Brad Crouch in a similar mould as well. These are 100% the scenarios in play.
A) Essendon get Gresham + Pick 13/St Kilda get Shiel.
B) Essendon get Gresham/St Kilda get Band 2/3 Compo.
And that’s it. Gresham wants out, St Kilda sound like that want Shiel. AFL need to tick it all off, even though they may not want too.
There is just nothing else in play here. There is 0% chance St Kilda enter the draft with Pick 13.
Definitely not. I’d say Band 2 would be a fair price for him given how much he was rumoured to have been on with us in his current contract. But you’re missing a step here. Is Gresham worth Band 1 compo?

Clubs cannot trade a selection in one deal then trade it back with another, but Gresham could move to the Dons as a free agent, which would create a draft pick.
Then St Kilda could trade a later pick back to Essendon for Shiel, who turns 31 in March.
St Kilda would not be allowed to top up Gresham’s salary to ensure they secured first-round compensation.
But Essendon would be allowed to pay some of Shiel’s deal while he played at St Kilda given an explosion of clubs trading players then paying some of their remaining wage.
So while there are hurdles to jump — and probing questions to be asked if the deal proceeds — there is a way for it to eventuate.
I’d imagine we would pay Shiels salary and take pick 13 for the hassle of itHey champ,
Just to be clear if it hasn’t registered already, Essendon will not be upping their offer to pay overs for Gresham to guarantee pick 13 compensation for St Kilda, lose Shiel whilst paying part of his salary AND only receive a later pick in return.
Cheers
I that the same Ralphy that was full of sh*t yesterday? He's bang on today though!Sorry dumb St Kilda supporter making way.

You are suggesting Essendon deserve the player AND the compensation given for him all because you would be willing to up his contract to trigger Band 1 and throw in Shiel who’s on huge money and is cooked?? Makes no sense to me but maybe I’m understanding it all wrong![]()
Hahahaha we champing people now. This has really escalatedHey champ,

Yet you can't see why it wouldn't make sense to effective just let a 25 year old Gresham go for a 31 year old Shiel when we have ben vocal about hitting the draft? No I’m not.
All I’m suggesting is that for this deal to go ahead, it’s either Essendon get Pick 13 or it doesn’t exist.
For some reason, the Saints supporters on here believe not only will we trigger band 1 compo for Gresham, for some reason, but then we will send Shiel over to the Saints for Pick 30+ and then you guys will keep Pick 13.
That doesn’t make sense, regardless of what you think of Shiel.
I didn’t come up with the trade to begin with mate, you would have to ask old mate Jon.Yet you can't see why it wouldn't make sense to effective just let a 25 year old Gresham go for a 31 year old Shiel when we have ben vocal about hitting the draft?
It makes zero sense from out end.
Actually… it’s been reported you blokes approached us.I didn’t come up with the trade to begin with mate, you would have to ask old mate Jon.
But we don’t need too. It’s not a Collingwood situation.Actually… it’s been reported you blokes approached us.
Which backs the idea your are trying to dump his salary.
I’d imagine after the big deals for Redmond and Parish and atleast $1.5m spent on McKay and Gresham it probably helps not having a $1m cap hit against you next year with Shiel. But we don’t need too. It’s not a Collingwood situation.
Because a fit Shiel is better than Seb Ross, is better than Zac Jones, is better than a fair few guys now who seem to get midfield minutes at St.KildaI still don’t understand why the Saints would trade 13 for Shiel + 27
They don’t need cap space, they don’t need 31 year old injury prone mids who are on the fringe at Essendon, they do need to continue drafting top kids.
With no dodgy deals Gresham still gets them band 2 which is a top 20 selection.
It was a heavily back ended deal,, was it not?Shiel now on a million dollar contract next year
3 days ago he was on 600k, tune in Monday to see what it grows to next!
