Yeah but he's a late pick and still a bit of a long shot, plus we need more than just one, unlikely we will have a 100% strike rate

Late pick yes, but there were reasons for that.
Nankervis missed an email inviting him to the Sandringham Dragons 12 months previous and it was only when he started tearing it up for Bentleigh in the SMJFL that the Dragons once again approached him to join them.
So only 8 NAB League games in the elite Junior pathway...I think it's fair to say if he'd joined them earlier if we wanted him we'd have had to pony up a fair bit more draft collateral.

I think Ronin was another that had his chances cruelled by COVID. Having a pretty good year in the WAFL currently where he's really started finding a lot more of the footy.

Some of his work in that last quarter was exceptional for a first-year player. Really understanding now why we were so keen to give him another contract before a ball was bounced

I like his composure, good vision and decision making.
Reminds me of Selwood in his early days.
It's a tough comparison but Selwood is pretty apt IMO
When I watch him I see a bit of Paul Kelly.

And Zac Taylor is playing very well in the guts for the SANFL team.
Soligo and Taylor are a couple of very impressive 19yo boys in their first season on the list …. albeit both a few centimetres short of ideal.
Cook is great kick, just needs to get more involved in the game …. and demand the ball.

There's a novel thought.
So we didn't focus on playing ability with Gallucci, Poholke, Jones, McHenry, Rowe etc.
No-one has an issue with small mids and only d**ks continue to take it out of context.
We have an issue picking the smallest ones who can't football well hence our midfield was full of Rookie picks because our 1st rounders were s**t who all happen to be small as well.
2016, 2018, 2019 1st rounders say no more.
P.S. it's nice to hear Hamish say they just football without all the other irrelevant BS. Not sure why this hasn't always been the priority
Is making many others look very average.
How nice to have a kid make good decision and execute well.

Kelly had a lot more breakaway speed, and wasn't a great kick IIRC, but a super, tough player and awesome overhead.
I think I had slept a bit on how good this guy's short kicking is. Damn he can hit a target!

He is playing very very well.
For me - time is the biggest thing against Rachele. People forget how bloody good he was in the first 5 rounds.
