He would want to be for what he cost.
Thuoy cost Billie Smedts and a pick downgrade.
At least make an effort to keep track of your own bullshit.
Tuohy: we reamed the blues here. Downgrade of picks tied to respective ladder positions (likely no more than 6 spots) as the difference between Smedts and Tuohy's value. No-brainer.

It highlights a comparison with the McIntosh trade
No flags.
Goddard is good, he has just been injured.
Yes. I pointed out the massive luck that fate gave Geelong with Dangerfield.
Henderson will turn out to be the wrong choice.
Zac Smith - meh

Okay. If you are content with the situation then good for you. Let's wait and see how the future unfolds.
A 1st round pick downgrade.
I suggest you read things properly.
So no flags in 6 years means Geelong has failed?
Despite putting themselves in position to win one most years by finishing top 4 in 4/6 years?
Goddard might be the best player in the league but if he can't stay on the park what value is he to a club?
You really need to do fact finding before trying discredit anything Geelong has done because it appears you don't know your arse from your hand.

Goddard might be the best player in the league but if he can't stay on the park what value is he to a club? Stanley came with pick 60 (Cunico) for pick 21 which we got for Christensen, Goddard doesn't even factor into this. We traded out Christensen for Stanley and Cunico. Geelong wins that trade by the length of the Flemington straight.
Nice try. It's a pick downgrade at worst from 15 to 20, at best from 17 to 20 for a top 5 rebounding defender. Geelong did incredibly well with this trade - it was one of those rare trades where both parties benefited as Carlton got Marchbank for the pick.

We can agree to disagree but I think that Geelong's trading and drafting has been brilliant the past six years. Draft picks are the most overrated commodity in football. I wouldn't call what Geelong have done "topping up". More that they've seen that there has been an opportunity to use ready made players as a way of pushing up the ladder rather than risking the draft. It's nice to see a team break the mould, back its recruiting and development staff and try something different rather than accept that their days of challenging are over and just accept missing the finals...Source?

Geelong's trading has been good. Have pulled in a lot of very good role players. Touhy and Henderson have been really good pick ups. Smith handy. Not sure about Stanley and obviously Mitch Clark was a bust.
But overall - they've topped up and stayed near the top. The arse could fall out of the whole thing soon, but I've been predicting (hoping) that would happen for about 6 years. It hasn't happened. So they're defying gravity and in a prelim.
Of all the teams to pot - Geelong's not one of them.
Stringer could work really well for them. He's basically a younger Stevie J. If any team can get Stringer playing consistent footy they'll laugh all the way to the bank. However I think he's got a bit of the Col Sylvia's about him and he'll go to a club that pays a high price thinking they can get the best out of him, but never does.
People have been saying that about clubs that have topped up for years now, Hawthorn, Geelong and North.Geelong has embarked on a top up model that sees them not quite good enough to win a GF. Quite similar to North actually. The cliff drop will be just as steep when Dangerwood go.
Though Stringer would be a good get if he is going as cheaply as David Schearz's figure of p30...
North on the other hand almost exclusively recruited 28-29-30 year old ex-champions and then decided to dump them all at the same time at the end of 2016.People have been saying that about clubs that have topped up for years now, Hawthorn, Geelong and North.
Geelong had a well documented gap in the 23-27 year old age group in the 2014 season so over the course of the next two seasons proceeded to recruit 4 good players in that age group (Danger, Hendo, SSelwood and Smith). This came at the expense of Stevie J, James Kelly, Matthew Stokes as well as a fringe player and two first round draft picks.
Hawthorn has taken the same approach last year and likely this year. They're topping up with good players (JOM, Titch) to bridge the gap between retiring veterans and kids. Hawthorn 2017 was very similar to Geelong 2015 on the field, and I'd say they're a good bet to push for finals next year (and I hate saying that as I hate them).
North on the other hand almost exclusively recruited 28-29-30 year old ex-champions and then decided to dump them all at the same time at the end of 2016.
It's two seperate models of recruitment and you have Geelong in the wrong basket. FWIW everyone says Sydney has great youth and a really well balanced list, yet on Saturday night Geelong's 22 was younger than Sydney's.

There is a whole lot of wrong with this statement.
We recruited only two 28-29-30 year old's and 5 under 28's. Exclusively is wrong.
We dumped them all at the same time? By "all"did you mean 1 - Dal Santo?
We recruited Higgins 27, Waite, Nick Dal Santo, Williams 23, Horvat 22, Anderson 22, Ahern 20 from other clubs.
Wells was an unrestricted free agent. Matching wasn't an option. Embarrassing when posters do these faux analysis trips without actually knowing what they're talking about.Between 2014 and 2016 North recruited:
Shaun Higgins - 27
Nick Dal Santo - 30
Jarrad Waite - 32
Farren Ray - 30
Robin Nahas - 27
At the end of 2016 North refused contracts for the following players:
Brent Harvey
Nick Dal Santo
Drew Petrie
Robin Nahas
Farren Ray
Michael Firrito
North also did not match a free agency offer for Daniel Wells
North effectively traded themselves into by far the oldest list in the AFL and then as a knee jerk reaction pushed out almost all of their old brigade which will likely see them holding up the ladder for the next 4+ seasons.
Ray was a rookie. If that was all our recruits then yes exclusively older players - but we recruited more kids than oldies. We took a shot and missed and now we start again.Between 2014 and 2016 North recruited:
Shaun Higgins - 27
Nick Dal Santo - 30

Awesome, so we're still good for another few years yet, and who knows the quality we might pick up in that time to replace em.Geelong has embarked on a top up model that sees them not quite good enough to win a GF. How about we actually talk about Jake Stringer, is there any news on that front?
Lel so funny when someone comes and tries to argue a point that I didn't make. I said North didn't match the offer made to Wells. I never said offer sheet - North offered reportedly 100k less per year (and a year less total) than Collingwood. They didn't up the offer to entice him to stay. North will finish in the top 8 next year. They will be holding up 7 team MAX.Between 2014 and 2016 North recruited:

Cats and Dons out front. Imagine Saints, Pies, Blues and Roos will get interested. How about we actually talk about Jake Stringer, is there any news on that front?
