Ok thanks for 3 replies all saying the same thing.. I get it I contradicted myself there but I was talking about fans in regards to his ability, we all obviously dont know the extent of his off field stuff but clearly that is something that would turn you off. I shouldve explained what I meant better.

Why do you say Geelong offer more hope when both sides look set to be competitive over the next few seasons?
Geelong are 1 game off a GF and next year will be around the top four again. Unless we can bring in 3-4 quality players I just don't see our least being much more than a 8th-12th placed team. Hope I'm wrong but I'm not as bullish about our list as others, far too many holes in the list

Your backline and rucks are fine. Midfield looks to lack a bit of class outside the grunt and Heppell. Forward line is largely sorted, but needs that medium forward like Stringer.

It is only really the middle that is the problem, the backline can be a bit iffy but generally works okay.

Agreed but it is more the inside mid that Essendon lacks, we have no shortage of good outside mids or small forwards that can go into the middle.

Have absolutely no idea where he will play. On one hand i would love his talent but on the other hand think he is a disaster waiting to happen. Could be another Sylvia, Hay, Clark, Bennell or Yarran.
He is a proven star that has been put up for trade. I think he's been put up for trade as he is worth something great that will facilitate a trade for someone else we are targeting. My call is Lever

You lack both, your outside types are not overly quick ie not line breakers. Pies have the same problem although the inside is covered, we just have no tall defenders ( who will be around in 2 years time) and only once tall forward of note and he is a WIP.

Its interesting that a lot of clubs trying to climb the ladder all seem to lacking class and speed on the outside with the St Kilda probably the one in most need.

A lack of pace is a problem but both Fantasia and Walla have shown a little bit when they go into the middle and they are quick, Colyer is quick but shanks it too often to be dangerous and McGrath is quick but is still developing, then there is Parish, Hepp and Merrett that whilst not speedy quick are able to move the ball quickly

Stringer shapes to be the most interesting potential trade of the offseason. I'll be really interested to see where he goes and what the Bulldogs get for him.

What is a low teens pick worth this year?

Would a club entertain a top 10 pick for Stringer and a future 2nd?

If you are talking about a swap with pick 11, probably fair enough. But second rounder with your comment, get ****** lol. Stringer is in a different bracket to anything Crameri was

I hope the Doggies aren't hard to deal with and adopt this attitude.

They want him out, just get it done.

Media narrative following the Stringer interview has already been "poor Jake" and "refreshingly honest". Can't see how any of that will hurt his trade value. If the nominated club wants to low-ball he will simply turn up to pre-season training at the kennel. Let's see how serious the potential suitors are or whether they are nothing more than tyre kickers.

I saw it the other way, that potential clubs will think he is being pushed out the door and they can get a quality player still looking over his shoulder wondering what happened.

Didn't get the feel that Jake would be shattered to be back at the Dogs next year. Doubt the Dogs would be shattered either if he reforms.

Stringer hasn't spoken to all suitors yet - talk of EFC (joke they literally never trade for big fish) or Geelong is extremely premature.

On a list basis need I am surprised EFC are even in the mix - they need mids not a talented but lazy fwd.

The talk of P20 for Stringer will be a distant memory in the next few weeks as his price rockets.

Can't believe North aren't keen (although if they're smart they keep their interest quiet this time) and list wise he is perfect for Richmond. Imagine Martin and Stringer - the best two don't argues in the game rotating between fwd and mid.

Lots of rumors about why he's being shown the door here's another I've heard... part of a group of dogs including Libba and Hunter who lack of a better word have bullied Tom Boyd over the past 2 years.

One of the Dogs fans mentioned that the other day but was it bullying or was it taking the piss over Boyd's contract.

Stringer would differently help Richmond overcome their lack of another target up forward.

With Essendon, it is not that we lack mids, it is that the ones we have are mostly developing and with careful drafting / trading we can add mids overtime. and we do have the option of Fantasia and Walla or Green (not that he is a mid)

Yeah, but I look at flag sides where the Hawks had Smith and Hill, Swans had Jetta (yes he has stunk since but was huge in those finals). Often these guys are not in a sides best, they are labelled soft or inconsistent but they are needed in the big games as they can break it open. Bomber Thompson recently admitted not taking Wozinski into a granny cost them big time.

Going back a but Acker on the outside was a freak and won the Brions many games.
