If we can play max 8/9 midfielders would aish be ahead of any of these

1-Danger
2-Sloane
3-Douglas
4-B.crouch
5.Smith
6-Thommo
7-CEY
8-VB
9-Mackay

And then theirs Lyons, m.crouch and Grigg who can't get a game
That's what concerns me with going after aish. Is there any point to getting rid of a top end draft pick and a 'handy player' for something we can get in the draft with the same pick, while keeping the 'handy player'

A lot would depend on what Danger does I suspect.

Also whether Thommo retires this year.

If we lost Danger and Thommo, and Aish is as good as they say, he would be in our top 5 mids next year.

Coming into our premiership window, we are better off getting a player that we know will be good, and wont be a factor of wanting to leave.

Taking a punt on a draftee will be just that, and would be 2 years behind Aish.

Exactly, we can pick up a top 10 mid who has already had his apprenticeship. It's a no brainer

Your problem with this though is that midfielders are all not the same, for instance, CEY and Mackay aren't competing for a spot, if you broke it down Aishs main competition for a spot is Smith and Mackay... and i'd have Aish ahead of Mackay all day, every day.

Though, i'd have Aish ahead of the bolded (no knock on any of them, just how highly i rate Aish)

aish>Douglas?

Some serious underrating of Aish going on in this thread. He's a gun, fills a need, and will slot straight into our best 22 next year if we get him. He'd lineup on the wing opposite Smith.
Its the typical denial process some of our supporters go through. When they think we might get a player they talk about how super he is, how good our team will be with him etc. Then when it looks like we wont get him suddenly he is over rated, doesnt fit a need, our list management dont rate him (and dont dare question them or your not a true supporter, Walsh refuses to over pay, we only want people who really want to be at the Crows and so on. You could set your watch by how closely they follow the script.
Aish is a gun, fits a need, we should be all over him like a fat kid on a cookie.
Anything else is just poor list management.

While different players have different roles, there is no difficulty at all in finding a position for Aish in our best 22.

He would be picked ahead of Mackay, Henderson, Wright & CEY for starters.

He'd also be ahead of Lyons, Grigg & M Crouch for what it's worth.

Our club might have had some list management dealings in the past that not everyone agrees with, but our club is not that ****ing stupid.

I have no doubt we are into Aish just as much as any other club. You'd think we would have put some sort of contract to him, or at least be right in his ear. Maybe we still might be structuring a deal, but Pickering would know a ball park figure at least.

Surprised no one has mentioned Porky's, Porky's Revenge, Stripes great movies during my teens in the 80s

We've still got crouch X 2, grigg and Lyons who can't get a game. 2 of those are lefties which would be useful. I still think we're better of going to the draft and looking for a midfielder with a lot of pace which in this years draft is supposedly plentiful.
You're right, there is less risk with going after aish. But fortune favors the brave. Maybe it should come down to, if danger leaves use the compo to get aish. If he stays we go to the draft.

He said that James will re-sign with Brisbane and that Adelaide havent even put anything to James to come to us. Port Adelaide have put an offer to him. Said he wouldnt go to Melbourne.

If this is true, and I wouldnt think Michael Aish is a liar and would know, it makes me worry about our club sometimes.

Our club is keeping everything very secretive at the moment. It seems incredibly unlikely we're not in Aish up to our eyeballs. Maybe, because we're so serious, the family is keeping it confidential. Michael may not want to talk to Rowie about it.

Such a great point!

Please tell me why a first round draft pick wont get you a key forward?
Think the Stats lean more to the fact that it has to be a top 10 pick to get a "franchise" KPP

Reports are good Kpp's are slim pickings in this years draft. Another reason the decisions of overlooking the likes of cockatoo for lever could be a great move.

Nick Maxwell, that former bogan captain of collingwood has stated Aish might go back to Melbourne, maybe Collingwood or Carlton.
