Treloar and Shiel? How many Vic clubs do you think there are? If he is prepared to go to a Vic club and 6 is on the table against our 12, then that'll be that. The only way that we'll have a pick in that vicinity is if we have a crap year or lose a good player ourselves. If Aish selects SA as his only destination then fair enough, but if he just wants to head south and Victoria is an option because his mates are there, then the club's ability to get a deal done comes into play.

What? Who says "ah, just trade me to any old Victorian club"?

He'll name a club. They'll give up their first round pick. Collingwood is linked to a number of players at the moment (as are Geelong). Chances of landing two blue ribbon players is incredibly unlikely.

He's homesick in Brisbane. For some reason, he supposedly won't be in Melbourne? Exactly HOW good a mate is he with Scharenberg?

He's not homesick and he isn't missing Scharenberg. He's opportunity shopping.

Won't be at Brisbane next year, but also quite a long shot to be at the Crows unless there is some ridiculous money on the line.

How will he look in Navy Blue?

Depressed I'd imagine.

With Red and gold hoops? Noice.
Realistically there's a lot of water to pass under the bridge in this episode. Happy to sit back and see him keep playing good footy? He's on the periphery ATM. Hope he gets back to what he can do best.

Jars said on Radio this afternoon that Aish is likely going to Carlton or Collingwood. That pretty much confirms that Collingwood aren't interested.
the A. Clarkson is coming to Adelaide Jars?

Barrett gave Aish a mention on the radio on Friday. Said he was more likely to go to Victoria than SA and apparently neither PAP or us have shown much interest in him.
Crazy if true.

Why would you believe that dribble?
its not unrealistic

Power having spent good money on Ryde and having top level talent like Grey recently resigned wouldn't have a heap of cap space.

We obviosuly have a few to lock away but you would think should have room to fit him, but from a pure list management POV we have bigger deficiencies so while Aish may seem obtainable if it is 2 of Danger, Aish and some other key position player than Aish would be a lower priority.

no doubt we would like to have him, but if he is asking for top dollar we may have decided its better spent elsewhere.

Put it this way, if Boyd was from SA would anyone be upset that he went to the bulldogs ahead of us give his deal? Im not saying Aish will get anything like that, but theres no reason to think he won't get more $$ offered in vic and we won't match offers if they are more than we value him to us

Collingwood will be all over every possible good free agent. They wont accept Beams leaving without replacing him with at least comparable talent if not 2 quality players. Danger to them on a ridiculous offer would not surprise me.

Dont confuse passing on what someone says to believing it.
Although I would point out that Barrett and Pickering are mates.....

I think the Player Agents play guys like Barrett big time, feed false information to create a false market for a player to drive his prospective salary up. I doubt Port would be particularly interested in Aish, which would make Pickerings job pretty difficult to get the best for his client. Hence he drops some "info" to old mate Barrett who doesn't care if it's true or not and suddenly Crows think there's some competition and might come back with a greater offer.

It might be true that we aren't that interested, but Barretts record is truly horrendous to the point that you tend to believe the opposite he says.

Triggy thinks he can play like crazy... ;)

Your last sentence explains everything!

So I just heard Aish got reported in the NEAFL today. Must've been annoyed at being dropped.

Not entirely sure why you keep coming to this thread to put a hose on every conversation. You know as much as we do.

Okay mate, ciao.

James Aish's rumoured last season with the Lions has gone from bad to worse...

After being dropped from the senior side, theBrisbane midfielder was tonight reported in the NEAFL for a swinging arm on Gold Coast's Keegan Brooksby.

The Suns ruckman was taken straight from the field holding his jaw, and was forced to call an early end to his night after suffering from concussion

 IF ...Aish is homesick ....how does going to Victoria solve that .....and are people saying Brisbane would underpay Aish compared to a Melbourne club

Bunkum !@!@ ....if Aish leaves Brisbane it will only be to an Adelaide club .......and realistically Adelaide offers greater opportunities

I agree KE

Making this up as I go along, but if BNE are offering a standard type 2nd contract (say $300k) while Hawks have $500k on the table already, then it may be more anti-BNE than genuine homesickness. He'd have mates in Melbourne telling him how fantastic it is there. I have this gut feeling that Hawthirn saw the potential in Gunston, backed that judgement in and offerred him what the thought he'd end up being worth. We save our $400k contracts for experienced players, not emerging talent. We take no risks and that consistently bears a certain type of result.

Any old Victorian club offering considerably more cash than BNE. As it stands 5 games into the season, he's looking at a very low 2nd contract at BNE. Hawks with an ageing midfield will have cash to spend and do it better than the rest. As I said earlier, I doubt we go after these talents hard enough, instead valuing experience. Although, we have a new list manager, but he still reports to the bloke that has largely built our current list.
