If they are going to change it then I think they need a future date. If the come out and say that by season 2030 we will no longer have academy or F/S bidding then it gives sides a lead in time. The side effect that never gets spoken about is if the AFL keeps watering down F/S and Academies the the clubs are going to cut the time and spend that gets put in.
I reckon they will go pure draft from 2030 onwards - once Tasmania have had 2 years of draft concessions.

I can see the discount going completely next year and possibly some other measures being you can only match within 5-10 picks of your held pick.

2030 the Jacob Lloyd draft 😂

won his grand final on the weekend and kicked 3 making him, one of the better players id assume.
He played SSV football last year and was apparently a stand out in that aswell

Off broadway but 19 year old and still NGA eligible Khalil Kaakour DOMINATED for Hillside this year. 13 mentions in the bests to go with 12 goals from 22 games and the EDFL Div 1 Rising Star Award saw him finish 4th in the league medal.

Kid looks about 23

I read this as the good teams will have to pay more, the poor teams will pay less. So assuming we don't scream up the ladder in 2027, which I don't think will be an issue, then we'll be fine matching for Bewick.

I would say it's just likely that we end up using our first and some points from the next pick. That's a win in a draft that will be dominated by TAS.

Same, depending on what 'zone' of the ladder they finish on and how highly rated the kid is. A mid to top 8 team might need to produce two top ten picks, but a bottom 8 team might need only to produce a mid first rounder.

This ****s us extremely hard on Bewick. We will need 2 top 10 picks to get him.
People need to cool their jets on Bewick.
Still two years away and that draft is already looking quite strong.

As an example, young Tom McGuane was talked up as a top ten pick 2 seasons ago yet now is likely to fall outside the top 50, if he is drafted at all.

Huss and Sweid both featured for the Bachar Houli foundation team against the Western Jets today and they absolutely smoked them by 20 goals, haven’t been able to locate any stats as yet.

Not sure how much to take from it, seemed like a bit of an exhibition game and I’m not sure the Jets were full strength.

As they should, both teams featured kids on both sides as young as 14. Adam in particular is a top 20 prospect in his draft year playing against borderline age relevant players, he should dominate.
