I believe Bucks said a couple of years ago its all about depth. If a player gets injured you need someone who can come and play that role to the same or better level than the person that left that role. ATM for Elliots role we have Howe, Fasolo, Swan and Crocker, they may not be at the same level as Elliot but the first 3 are definitely good enough to cover Elliot. Actually the only positions we dont have real depth in is KPF and small crumbing forwards. Get him right then unleash him when he is ready because Elliot is a jet

"COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley remains confident injured forward Jamie Elliott can still play a meaningful role in the first half of the AFL season, despite having no timeline on a return date."

"Buckley said the club was taking a long-term view on the 23-year-old’s welfare, saying it was prepared to give him as much time required to recover and undergo the conditioning required to allow him to resume pain-free."

"Buckley said he was certain Elliott would be fit and firing in the second half of the season — at the worst."

The article also says Jamie will resume running tomorrow. Let's wait and see what happens now.

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley remains confident injured forward Jamie Elliott can still play a meaningful role in the first half of the AFL season, despite having no timeline on a return date.

Elliott, who has been battling the nagging back complaint pars defect, is set to resume running tomorrow, but admitted himself this week he was unsure of when he would play again.

Buckley said the club was taking a long-term view on the 23-year-old’s welfare, saying it was prepared to give him as much time required to recover and undergo the conditioning required to allow him to resume pain-free.

“It is far too early (to say when Elliott will play again),” Buckley said. “We want him up, but I don’t have fears for the whole year.”

“What he has got is (a) structural (issue). It is a fundamental part of his makeup. It is not at the end of the chain, it is his back, so it impacts quite a bit.

“If he had done enough conditioning, he could have played with the pain this week, but the welfare of the individual means you want to give him the best chance of having a full career, and not burning him out in six weeks is half of our battle.

Might miss the Whole Season and Something he might Struggle with his rest of his Career?

We might seen the Best of Elliot already

I'm not surprised by this at all. Clearly it's a serious injury but there is no reason to think his career is over.

Well we saw what happened last year in the 2nd Half and when he got it his OutPut badly dropped off.

Hopefully they can get it Right and be back to 1st Half of 2015 Season Form

Jesus Dave, this is a story rehash. It's the same injury which seems to have, in general, a 3 phase recovery time of 3 months (in general). Won't see him again? WTF!

I never said we seen the Last of Him. I said we might seen the BEST of him IF he does not 100% get over his Back Injury

I'm telling you, I've had this condition. You can get to a place where you're pain free, everything is stable and then one innocuous movement and bang!!!! And because his training regime will always be putting stresses thru this area, he will not be allowing it to truly settle.

It's unfortunate because I thought he was set to dominate this season and could have kicked 50 goals almost. Small forwards usually start to show their wears at the age of 23 or 24, but nevermind we will see him back at some stage. Take out his couple of goals a game though and we aren't as potent as we may have been.

How is the condition now? Does it go away? How long did it take?
