In career best form, looks to have got his body right. Media report is that there is no deal on the table. It's looks unlikely he would get anything more than a 1 year deal from the Pies given their list position. Big question mark whether he would play anywhere else but there a few clubs with surplus dollars to spend. Any takers?

Brisbane likely to make a play for him, considering they have before.

He lived in Qld as a teenager. Family moved to Vic after his father died.
From memory he was one of the kids GWS got to pre-list and trade for draft picks.

Is it Elliott or Howe that is super interested in coaching?

If so I reckon a team could come with a coaching/playing type of deal that the Suns were supposedly offering to Heppell a few years ago.

5 year deal.

2 years playing and 3 years coaching. Maybe some extra on top in the playing years to offset the shitty assistant coaching pay in the last three years?

I said it last year that North should have gone after Howe with that sort of deal. He would be a fantastic leader for them.

Yep, sure was.

Lions made a play last time he was OOC. He went up there for a look but decided to stay.

Be surprised if he moved now though.
He also checked out Melbourne as well, who I think were very keen at the time.

Yep, we were very keen from memory. He didn't leave then and he's been rewarded with a flag and now seems as healthy as he's been in a long time at, what, 32? I can't see there being a deal put to him that would make him leave now. I'm sure the Pies will want to keep their 30 plus core around for another crack over the next 2-3 years too, so will look after him.

That’s Pendlebury, haven’t heard Howe or Elliott being interested in coaching.

Howe seems to like media shows etc
I’d be surprised if Elliott is still involved in the AFL after his playing career, seems to be the super quiet type that will enjoy no longer being in spotlight

I knew Pendles already.

I just know that I heard McRae talking about the vets once in an interview and mentioning that one of them (not Pendles) was really invested in the coaching side of things and wanted to get into it post career. I remember it surprising me which is why I thought it might be Elliott, although watching Howe on field I could easily see it as him as he does alot of instructing to your young guys.

Have to agree Howe fits the bill, a real onfield backline coach. I would guess a ready made defensive asst coach on retirement.

Elliot is a wonderful player and sets a great example. I don't see/hear him at games directing team mates, they all cooperate beautifully but there doesn't seem to be a standout leader there.

Different feel to the backs where Moore, and Howe run things, with Maynard and Pendles often coordinating too.

Maybe the forwards are just sneakier about it?

I would love to offer Howe (or Elliot if he was interested) a five year deal at the bombers. (2 years playing and 3 years assistant coaching). Pay him abit more in the first two years so that it helps offset the poor assistant coach pay.

Reckon he would be hugely beneficial for Reid and Roberts and gives them a much better better voice than McGrath.

Howe is visibly winding down physically. I doubt he plays 2 years, Frankly one more would be a fantastic bonus.

Winning contests on brains and willpower these days. Such a great brain.
