ok lets break things down before you have a laugh... although its still very early in the year and yes unfortunately Jammo will miss the next few games, he is in my mind in real calculations to be an A.A

Here is a breakdown on goals against both Jamison and Matthew Scarlett (the games best defender in the AFL)

Jamison this year
Rd. 1 - Richmond - Richardson - 2 goals for the game - 2 on Jammo
Rd. 2 - St. Kilda - did not play
Rd 3 - Essendon - Lloyd - 4 goals for the game - 2 on Jammo (Thornton had 2 kicked on him)
Rd 4 - Collingwood - Medhurst - 1 goal for the game (by virtue of a 50mtr penalty given against Thornton for pulling Medhurst's jumper 60mtrs out)
Rd 5 - Melbourne - Robertson - 2 goals for the game
Rd 6 - Adelaide - Burton - 4 goals for the game - 2 goals on Jammo (Bower had 2 kicked on him)
Rd 7 - West Coast - McKinley - 0 goals for the game
Rd 8 - Brisbane - Bradshaw - 1 goal for the game - Jammo had 0 kicked on him.

Thats 9 goals in 7 games at an average of 1.28 goals against.

Scarlett this year assuming he played on these guys which i think he did

Rd. 1 - Port Adelaide - Westoff - 1 goal for the game
Rd. 2 - Essendon - Lloyd - 0 goals for the game
Rd 3 - Melbourne - Neitz - 1 goal for the game
Rd 4 - St. Kilda - Gehrig - 2 goals for the game
Rd 5 - Sydney - O'Loughlin - 0 goals for the game
Rd 6 - Fremantle - Pavlich - 5 goals for the game (2 on Scarlett)
Rd 7 - Brisbane - Bradshaw - 1 goal for the game
Rd 8 - Richmond - Richardson - 1 goal for the game

Thats 8 goals in 8 games at an average of 1 goal per game against.

Think its stupid now???

I'm not say Jamison is ahead of Scarlett but in terms of what he is suppose to do, he has done an awsome job and is not far behind. Scarlett is a far greater player and far more attacking, but for Jamo to come off the Rookie list and play the way he has and done what he has done certainly has to be in make him a contender.

Comments...

Didn't Richardson kick 5 in round 1. Injury won't help his cause, but don't think he would be picked above the more attacking rebounding fullbacks at the present time.

Yes but only 2 of them were kick whilst Jamison was on him. Thornton had 1 and Waite the other 2. I agree with what you said about other rebounding defenders, but as a task at stopping his opponent, he is not far off the best, with very similar opponents...

Ok cheers for clearing that up, looks like a very promising young defender, for our sake hope he does not play in rd 12 might allow Rocca to actual kick a few this time.

Future AA Yes.

Not AA 2008.

FB and CHB have been sewn up by Scarlett and Bock.

He may fit into a back pocket

If he continues his current form imo he would be in contention.....but strongly doubt he would be selected just for the fact nobody knows who he is.

And the Collingwood game, wasn't he on Medhurst?

This reads like a Hawthorn or Richond thread...as soon as one of their young players does anything remotely positive a thread goes up procaliming them to be the best young player to ever pull on footy boots.

Jamo's going alright, and I couldn't be happier that we have a solid FB in the making, but talk of AA form is ridiculous. He has compteted well, and has some great facets to his game, especially the way he keeps himself in the contest on the lead without bleeding free kicks.

I say keep a lid on it, and let's hpe he continues to develop at a similar rate. The challenge for the club in the next year or two will be conditioning him to compete with the bigger body guys without compromising his speed.

Agree on Scarlett and Bock, they've been brilliant so far this year. However to say they've sewn up positions in the AA team is a bit to early . If one went down with injury next week (would never wish for that but speaking hypothetically) then it would be tough to call - Glass and Rutten may come into the fray at some stage and pip them off. Still a long time to go.

Jamison still has to prove himself over a period of time. I think he has potential to do it in future though.

I think Jamo has been fantastic. Not sure if he will make AA though. Won't be picked for FB or CHB and then people will start to look at players like Campbell Brown above him. But some really good signs for the future. Still have a lot of games left this year, so hopefully he can keep putting his name out there.

In the Collingwood game Waite played on Rocca, Jamo played on Medhurst and did another great job.

AA for defenders is picked on reputation more than performance - so Jamison has no chance, unless the Herald Sun decides to do a feature on him (a la Nathan Brown).

Defenders don't generally rack up possessions or do spectacular things, so the only way to tell they are doing their job is really if the team wins, or you already know how good they are and know to look. We aren't winning, and noone knows who he is, so no AA.

FWIW, I don't think his performances warrant it either; he's been good, and improving, but not that high. But what about Rising Star? He hasn't had a nomination yet, despite playing consistently well. Surely he'd be in the top 3 or 4?

Too old I think.

Not from what I recall. Richo kicked all 5 on Jamison. Waite had Schulz and Thornton had Brown.

Wouldn't have thought so. He's got some stiff competition - namely Scarlett and Glass. But his improvement this year has been pretty special.

glass is carrying an injury... if he scores a spot it will be in a BP but I wouldnt have thought so... not this year anyway.

For starters i never proclaimed him to be the best young player to ever pull on footy boots, so ill pull you up on that.

2nd why the hell should we not pump up the tyres of some of your young players. Jamison has come from a different back ground (off the Rookie list) and is doing a fantastic job thus far this year. We should all be embracing what he is doing so the rest of the competition take note and realise how good of a player he is/ has been this year.

3rd. Explain to me what the main objective a Full back has. Whats his main job????

Answer that, look at the stats that i have provided and then come back to me. He is not as far off as some of you may think. Maybe if we pump his tyres hard enough he will get recognised. Its not as rediculous as it seems.

Ohh and i never said that he should be an A.A, i said that he should be in contention for the job he has done so far...
