Both top draft picks who have failed to come on and will probably never live up to their draft position.

But if you had to have one, who would you rather?

Grant gets less of the ball and takes one less mark per game, but makes more tackles (averaging one more per game) and kicks more goals.

I'd have Grant, his speed actually is a weapon. Not sure Watts has an attribute that stands out.

Watts will be very very good player. Grant looked alright kicking a few against us too.

Both will make it IMO but Watts will be a star worthy of his draft position IMO.

Most goals in a game:
Grant - 6
Watts - 3 (shown in clip above. Grant did that in a quarter).

Most goals in a season:
Grant - 29 (2010)
Watts - 21 (2011)

Career brownlow votes
Grant - 3
Watts - 1

Grant is horrid. Watts has more to him even if hes not that #1 pick he was drafted as.

Grant is still dining out based on a game where he tore up... uhhh.... Heath Hocking, I think maybe it was Houli or Slatts, after 2 or 3 of our other defenders went down injured?
That says it all, right there.

He's terrible.

As opposed to Watts dining out on being the leading intercept marker of kicks by opponents between 35-40m in Sunday twilight games between rounds 8 and 11?

Give Grant a few months in the gym, on the cables and he'll fill out to a very good forward, I think we've seen the best Watts has to offer, and I'm not sold.

So you're punting on Watts never building up any further physically than where he's at right now? Not a particularly sound bet there.

He was already heavier last year when he played in the forward line most of the season, for that matter. It just happens that the emphasis was more towards cardio work for him this year.

Does Watts have any weapons?

he seems a tall, slow flanker. At least Grant is a quick flanker.

As a forward? Grant
As a floaty, loose man off the HBF? Watts
but yeah they're both pretty ordinary

Both have unperformed big time and I can't see either of them living up to their draft picking allocations, but out of the 2, I'd probably take Watts just because he can at least find the football more consistency and use it better.

Watts is improving, Grant seems to be getting worse - i would be surprised if he was even playing AFL in 2 years

Both physically impotent and ultimately forgettable (save for Watts' infamy) players.

I'd take Watts because he could get better, but if he stays as a loose backman I will call it a draw and say neither.

Possibly should use your open eye to view him next time.

Not mentioning two especially good, yet impotent and ultimately forgettable (but at the same time, infamous) performances by Watts this year which were instrumental in securing our first two wins, recognised as best on ground by SEN, Triple M and the ABC in both, but nobody remembers these things, of course. Especially not the Essendon game.

And aside from that, the fact he's been consistently amongst our best over and over again since the start of 2011, and in the backline this year, being responsible for virtually every attack launched from defensive 50 until his ankle injury. Outpolling NN in the Brownlow count last year, and likely doing the same in an equally unmemorable Brownlow count this season, which again will assuredly be forgotten by all.

I'd take Watts because he could get better, but if he stays as a loose backman...

Yes, playing a man-on-man role in defence each week and somehow being a loose backman simultaneously, it seems. While being a "slow flanker" who was in our forward line for the majority of last year, was second-fastest in the 2008 draft combine, and amongst the fastest players in the league right now. Some guy, that Watts ;)

That might be because Watson was head and shoulders above Watts for BOG honours.

As apposed to Watts actually being able to string together consistent footy - which he has for the past two years.

Funnily enough Watts is actually quicker than Grant.

He runs a 2.82 20m sprint - Grant goes at 2.89.

He's a much better kick, better mark, has better awareness, reads the play a lot better.

Grant's a worse pick than Cale Morton @ 4 - considerably.
