Jarman to leave Crows

Darren Jarman is leaving the Adelaide Football Club to join his brother, Andrew, to set up the Jarman Football Academy at Prospect Oval, home of SANFL club North Adelaide.

In a prepared statement on Thursday night, Adelaide chief executive officer Steven Trigg said the club would not be 'recontracting' assistant coach Jarman for 2005.

"A comprehensive review of the season, and football operations generally, is continuing," Trigg said.

"At this point, however, the club has determined that this change should be announced now, given Darren's situation.

"Darren will join brother Andrew in the establishment of the 'Jarman Football Academy'.

"This new venture will be based at Prospect Oval and will cater for the coaching and development of young footballers from all areas.

"Darren is a dual premiership player with the club, a three-time leading goalkicker and has been on the coaching panel for three years.

"He has given tremendous service to our club, both as a player and as an assistant coach.

"This is a mutually workable outcome, with the club engineering an element of change and Darren looking to broaden his skills.

"We wish him all the best for the future."

Darren and Andrew Jarman are creating their own footy academy, based at Prospect Oval - "The Jarman Brothers Football Academy"...interesting concept, rules Andrew out of a Crows assistant coach position?!

Pity it couldn't be the "Jarman Brothers Clone Academy" :)

Then we would have plenty to crow about in the future. :D

I love Jars, but take a look at our conversions of inside 50's into goals and our kicking accuracy while he has been the forward coach. Good decision from Craig, the bottom line is that our forward line has been terrible. Good luck to him.

It is a pity that Darren Jarman is going, I thought he was a great specialist forward coach.
One to one, maybe (was he the one who taught Perrie to kick?) but as a forward line coach (tactics for the whole front six as a group) I think he got found out.

Spot on.

If only "hard pie gets" and "waistline outside 50" were relevant to footy...

Yeah, the Crows should fund a breeding program on top of the Federal Baby Bonus to ensure we have the next generation of Jarmans running around under the F&S rule.

Yeah, that about sums it up.

what a great idea, a specialist footballing academy, with tight links to the AFL clubs, teaching football and football coaching for the betterment of SA footy, from the grassroots to the elite level.

we should start one in WA too. maybe run by the materas :)
