Lol at Will Kelly training as a forward the kid is a natural defender can run off his man aswell.

Collingwood draft a forward for fu**s sake.

Reid was recruited as a forward and ended up a premiership and AA key defender.

Mihocek was recruited as a defender who now plays forward.

Any number of other examples around the competition as well.

We are drafting kids. They really have had limited training up until now compared to when they are full time professionals. Will Kelly should be good enough to play at either end of the ground with the right development.

Maniacal Madge in particular conjures up images of a SA bakery, an old lady with red sauce bottle in hand, aggressively stabbing a pie, before even asking if you'd like sauce.

Apologies if any Madges were offended by this post.

images of a SA bakery remind me of a couple of mates who played for Norwood, as they were sponsored by Villies Pies they did a bit of part time work at the bakery. never ate a Villies pie again, after that conversation. One of them was drafted to Crows and won a flag in his first year 1998, talk about luck!

Roughead finished top 10 in the Copeland, doubt he will be in jeopardy.
He’s also 29 and in the twilight of his career. They’re not playing Roughead and Keane ahead of Moore and Keane, so he’s fairly irrelevant to the conversation. Add to that, that Moore is a genuine swingman capable of playing as a genuine key forward. Keane will have no bearing on his contract negotiations. Just accept it was a stretch to say it and move on instead of digging a hole.

Moore could be in that conversation but how many of those blokes play both positions how many were drafted to be in that position?

Shows they were recruited and developed as forwards.

Looks like we might have recruited and now developing Kelly as a forward. Who knows, may end up in top 5 forwards one day.

To suggest that kids who came in to the system playing on role cannot be successful on other roles is laughable. Many a player has done it, even very late in their careers. Leon Davis a prime example. A revelation down back.

Pav's another example, was recruited as a forward and earned AA selections playing full back and midfield early days in his career.

If Kelly becomes a top 5 forward I’ll eat my own pubes.

Well if he's a key position player, it would mean that Moore's bargaining position is reduced. Jordy has nobody pushing for his place in comparison.

Are you having a lend? If not can you explain how his market value (decided by the market) is diminished by a guy that’s never played a senior match being KP size?? Might as well draft a tree in this draft and say it diminishes Cox’s bargaining power 👍

Will be a good thread to bump, love me some Collingwood bias crap talk.

Week 2: Session 1

Again, they started before 10. At this point, I need to be there by 9:30am lol But the sun was bright and warm early in the morning, of course there not being much shade. I went over to the glasshouse side for a while (swapped ends eventually, and there ended up being a nice breeze.)

Players in attendance:
Stevo
De Goey
Langdon (briefly toward the end)
Pendles
Dunn (He obviously trains and then goes home, saw him leaving afterward)
Mayne
Browns x 2
Daicos
Phillips
Roughy
Crisp (just on the stationary bike)
Kelly
Murphy
Broomy (again, briefly)
Appleby
Wills
Mihochek
Madgen
Quaynor (Running)
Sier
Howe
Atu
Tohil
Keane
Cox
Lynch
Wilson
Noble
Cameron (Running)

Went for about two hours. It was pretty full on. Included some match sims, group drills, running sprints, conditioning, stoppages. Kelly was playing on Howe, Roughy in the match sim.
Roughy had some centre clearances over cox, same with Lynch over Cox. Lynch improving and showing toward his strengths.

Coaches were impressed with some things murphy did.

Cox stayed behind to practice goal kicking. But he did quite a bit contact work, trying to get better at stoppages stuff and groundball toward teammates.

Jordy did the warm up and then did running sessions. Probably needs it after not having trained or played in longer than the others. Just needs to get some fitness in. I had a few people mention his skinny legs lol I'll post some photos and videos.

I walked around to the AAMI park side to watch the rest of the match sim, as it was played on that side of the ground and was easier to watch and take notice of it from there. Had a nice breeze, so that helped.

Wills getting in the mix of it, and working on other things than just his tackling. Was working on escaping traffic and hitting teammates with handballs.

Got any questions?
