Jericho - Crows long term Full Forward???

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Now that Alan Stewart is onboard, I think you will see a big difference in most of the young guys next season. If they dont get rid of them.

Having said that I realise that some of our veterans will retire in three to four
years so they need to knuckle down.

As for Kruger is there realistically a chance he will get a game ? every time his name comes up so does the injury that he is currently suffering from, make Craig needs to be tough with him as well !

I think Kruegs will be alright, he had some soft tissue injuries but hopefully with the rest he has had that would of been sorted out by now. His back is coming along, a bit slow but it is getting there.

Once Kruegs gets a few games under his belt at Glenelg he will be straight into the Crows forward line, we need him there.

He'll play wizard cup. and if he performs he might get straight into the side for the real stuff.

Has any Crow ever walked straight in ? without playing SANFL (not a traded player)

Kruegs has played league at the Bays.

I think he will be a revelation in our forward line, people will love him at Footy Park and will (hopefully) fill the void left by Stevo, who I think will struggle to come up.

Did Brent Reilly play a SANFL senior game before his uneventful AFL debut in 2002?

I have a feeling Andrew Eccles also leapfrogged straight from SANFL reserves to AFL.

Hey Hey go easy people - kids first year of any type of senior footy, AFL or SANFL and we're expecting ..... what ... a champion in his first year???

Got faults - sure has - but lets take age and experience with him as a big factor, and judge him at the end of 2006.
The reality 2nd year blues could see him go backwards this year.
Just saying that for me Jericho has the talent/instincts of a forward - good leap, mark & kick for goal. Howeverm as well as his softness, I'm also concerned about his decision making, so he would need to improve greatly to play on a wing, as has bee suggested.

Decision making you may find is due to his inexperience and the speed of the game at AFL compared to SANFL reserves where he has much more decision making time.

I still prefer him at HFF for the very reasons you suggested.

I think Jezza plays his best footy out of the goal square.

Don't disagree but Craig likes a tall on the FF line and Walsh has dibs on the square at this point.

What Craig likes is a resting ruckman in the pocket. When that player goes into ruck then Jericho comes on and takes his spot in the forward line. So we have Welsh and Jericho both playing deep in the forward line.

I presume by Walsh you mean Welsh? ;)

Actually Jericho is 189 cms. Welsh is 188cms.
:D sorry

no height is not the issue just that as a forward focal point Welsh ;)
has more experience and runs on the board.

One assumes by resting ruckmen that Biglands and Clarke would alternately rest in the pocket leaving Jericho where exactly?

While all that's true about Welsh, I have no doubt that Jericho could eventually be our FF - if he hardens up his attack on the ball and the man.

Agreed could be the solution - but will reserve my judgement till after a few more games yet. ;)

Biglands starts FP and Clarke in the ruck. Clarke goes to bench for a breather, Biglands goes into the ruck and Jericho takes Rhett's place in the forward line. Thats the rotation Craig has used ever since he took over and he has openly said that he likes that rotation because he can change the forward line structure with effectively only 1 move.

Jericho's intestinal fortitude worries me.......I'm hoping that with a bit bigger body he might feel confident about involving himself in contests for the ball. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't his 1st game against the Paps earlier in the year......and didn't he take a big(ish) hit from someone ???......I reckon that has pulled his confidence back a bit.

I'd like to see him on the wing this season - if he gets picked...

I still think you are being way to harsh on a 19 year old in his first year at AFL, i watched him a few times for Westies and he got crunched many times, also seem to be getting him self into a contests regulary - against Norwood he was consistently gang tackled and he still went in for the ball.

in the AFL it may be a bit different but surely he deserves more than 10-11 games (which in the crows isnt bad for a 19 yr old) to be judged. wait till his 3rd season when he will have 50 or so games under his belt

especially compared to a player like bock !!

Very well said. Some people shoot off the hip for no reason. One would be forgiven for thinking that Jericho has played around with their misus. :D

Give the kid a break FFS. He will be a lot better player than people here give him credit for. This situation reminds me of Hentschel debate this time last year. Nearly everyone had him well and truely written off. Some people need patience. It ain't gonna happen over night. He played 15 odd games as a 19 year old. What the hell more do you want?!?!?! A Ricciuto?????

Jericho has fitted his games into where as reilly had taken 3 seasons to get to that point !! in my books he has 2 more seasons to get the stats that Reilly has started to get. You also have to take into account the position that Jericho plays but over all not bad for a 19 yr old in his first year
