3.40pm start time not sure it will be that dewy.

We play Sunday arvo...if the ground drains well, should be an okay day for footy

He is a gun tho, you don't play guns in the twos

Crows can do it with Tex, Gov, Lynch, Jenkins and Jacobs.

We can do it too
Oh my god, he is not a gun.

An athlete? sure
A hard worker? definitely
A gun key forward? not even close

Taberner, McCarthy and Hogan all have their strengths around the ground. Lobb could be a number one ruckman if he wanted to and we lose just about nothing in the ruck when he is relieving Darcy. I don't want these four inside the same 50m arc at the same time but I just don't believe these four can't be successful in the same team... and still keep Shultz and a rotating mid in the forward 50 for balance.

I’d like him to play and play a decent chunk in the middle. As much as we love the Fyfe / Mundy combo, I feel we need to manage Mundy’s midfield minutes as we need him to last the season. Rotating Mundy forward or back will help this
Mundy is pretty indestructable, but I agree with your sentiment. Keeping those boys fresher can improve their impact. But I'll be honest, I need some convincing about the Hogan midfield idea, and will watch with interest.

I'm on the keep Tabs, play Jesse this week through the midfield bandwagon.

It lets Jesse go chase the ball without the pressure of being a forward focal point. Give Tabs a run on the wing at some stage as well with Jesse rotating forward.

Cox will have to wait his turn though.

Why in the **** would we play Hogan in the midfield? We've been screaming for a gun key forward for years and as soon as we get one we want to play him in the midfield?

But we have 4 in reality. Lobb, Hogan, Taberner and Cox.

Lucky they can mix up their roles. Lobb can ruck, Hogan can moonlight in the midfield. I think Taberner and Cox are the least flexible.

Tabs took 9 marks on Sunday and I dont know how many were in the forward 50 but I'd be surprised if it was more than 3. I wouldn't expect him to be at a centre bounce like Hogan but like you said they can all mix up their roles.

Is Hogan legit in the midfield? Like prime Pav legit, or old Pav sort of just being a big body crashing through being used in there if we are getting ******.
Prime Pav would be something I'd take for around 10-15 minutes per game. Could make for an interesting strategy. I know they used him in that way at Melbourne. My take on it is that these things usually work best as a shock tactic, and work less well when you telegraph it.

1.

His greatest asset was his ability to gut run into space on the wing and take a relieving mark fro D50. Something NM absolutely struggled with.

With him and Lobb patrolling the wings when the ball is coming out of defence there are going to be some nice marking opportunities too.

We have 3: Hogan, Lobb, McCarthy.

The rest are 2nds

Very interesting thread.. there’s some interesting arguments either way.

Whatever the decision, I can’t imagine Jesse playing in the 2’s so it’s a toss up on 4 talls or Tabs being an out.

For the first time in years, we’ve got a wonderful surplus of tall forwards and it’s a very welcome problem..

It dragged their tall back out too.

Hogan's best football has come as a midfielder/forward, and his worst as a stay at home forward
