I've been trying to smash out a few older Kmart puzzles lately - the panda was by far the worse of this lot as there was very little definition to work with while piecing it together

I ended up doing that one by shape and bought myself a little USB lamp from Kmart to spot focus light on it such was the difficulty in trying to distinguish colours, shades etc

The other 3 at least made some sort of sense - I've already given them all away as I never want to do them again

I then had fun with these two - brand is USAopoly which I wasn't familiar with but I have a few more of them in my collection

They were only 550 pieces each, the quality was great with unique shapes in there and just a lot of fun - yeah the map was a little harder but it all made sense and I'd absolutely love to find the others in this series

I once got from Kmart a Kodak brand puzzle , it was great quality and the picture was high resolution so the end product was awesome. Have never seen them again anywhere.

Finally finished an 18,000 piece Ravensburger earlier this year. Probably not as impressive as it sounds as it can be done as 4 x 4,500 pieces then connected together.

Anyway it's sitting under the bed in sections as I can't bring myself to dismantle it. Was wondering if it would be possible to get it mounted, but it's almost 3m x 2m.

Can I ask what the puzzle image is, please?

In regards to mounting the puzzle, I do believe that should be possible even with a puzzle that size. I'm a member of various jigsaw puzzle groups on Facebook, and as well as sharing images of their completed puzzles, there's also those who share images of their now wall mounted puzzles - including this 32,000 piece Ravensburger

Depending on your image, would it be possible to split into say 2 or 4 sections for mounting? What I mean by that is I've seen some who've decided to wall mount the giant 42,000 Disney puzzles and they do so by mounting the individual images before sitting them against each other on the wall

I would suggest that a good option could be to join some of these puzzle groups on Facebook and ask them for advice as there's some very experienced folk on there who could provide some really solid information and advice

There's groups like:
  • Jigsaw Puzzle Lovers
  • Jigsaw Junkies
  • Jigsaw Puzzles
  • Australian Jigsaw Puzzle Association

Just to name a few

Thank you, much appreciated. The puzzle is this one, in four sections, so yeah it could be separated but I think it would look better together.

I’m on one of those puzzle groups and I agree there is some really experienced people that know how to frame or mount puzzles to walls.

Holy moly that looks difficult, how long did it take?
We did it the easy way, it's split into 4 bags in the box, one for each quadrant. I think the whole thing took about 18 months on and off. The table just fitted each 4,500 piece segment, but finding somewhere to join the 4 together took some effort ;).

It's now split into 8 segments so I can store it but I can't bring myself to break it up, hence the interest in mounting.

I've learnt to ignore those who like to brag about how quickly they complete puzzles as they seem to make it more about how many they complete rather than the enjoyment of completing them (*though I do wish one could be employed to complete puzzles 😂)

I've seen someone who had a list of how many pieces they've completed this year and it worked out as a 1000 piece puzzle like every 2 or 3 days and then basically straight onto the next one - to me that sounds stressful to rather than enjoyable

This is my current puzzle (not my photo)

It cost me like $2 from Kmart on clearance and I wasn't expecting much, but I can honestly say it's one of the glossiest, most realistic looking images I've worked on - you can see the individual bark lines on each trees. The pieces are irregular shaped but larger than I normally work with (like 45cm x 60cm which seems big for a 500 pieces) and I'm enjoying working on it a little bit each night

This is the newest one to be added to my collection, or will be when it arrives next week

I think that'll be 6 from the Krypt series I'll have and they're ones I would love to mount after completing - just need room to put them

I think that Krypt puzzle would do my head in, although being colour blind sometimes the less colourful puzzles (like less colourful Lego) are easier to piece together.

We did one of those Mindfulness puzzles that was basically a beach scene with sand, water and sky almost indistinguishable from each other and that turned out to be the least mindful thing we've ever done ;).

And yes, I totally get your point about enjoyment. We got a buzz out of a recent puzzle with the same subject as my avatar simply because of the memories we have from visiting there. The only puzzle I can recall where the enjoyment factor diminished to the point we couldn't finish it was the National Gallery's 1000 piecer of Blue Poles.

Amazing stuff.

Must've taken a few months to complete.
Two weeks haha, but I’m off work due to an injury in my back. I only do about 10-15 minutes at a time. It’s a relatively easy puzzle as you can work on each wonder and sort it out. Hardest part was all the sky sections and doing them.

Was is Ravensburger or another brand?

Chapeau! 4000 pieces finished in a portnight ;). Would take me as long as it's taken to sack Hinkley :).
