JLT Ladder

I decided to do the ladder for last years 2017 JLT series to see how closely it ended up resembling the final ladder of 2017.

What does this mean? Either your JLT results will somewhat resemble your final season performance, or is no indicator at all. Flip of the coin, really.

Looking at last years jlt ladder only 3 teams outside the 8 made it so wasn’t to far off.

What can you take from this for the season ahead? Absolutely nothing. You would be a brave person to think that this would be the way the ladder sits at the end of the 2018 season.

I wouldn't take everything out of preseason games, but a fact is that at least half of the pre-season top 8 have made the actual top 8 in the actual season since 2012. Since 2014, it has at least been 5 out of the top 8 (6 out of 8 for 2015) - and this included teams dedicating one or two matches for playing the kids.

Another interesting observation is that about half of the teams that made top 8 in the pre-eason competition but missed the top 8 in the real season then went on to make the top 8 the following year. That is 7 out of 16 teams since 2012 (would have been 8/16 if Melbourne made finals).

Again, I wouldn't take everything out of a pre-season game/ladder but I also wouldn't say that it means nothing.
